AllMtn 6&7 - Warning - Check your rear triangle bearing locations for cracked paint!

Well the e-bikeshop.co.uk never admitted fault and kept arguing that the bike was 'functional' and therefore fine. They argued that the consumer rights act meant that I had no rights to a full refund after 6 months. They argued that their T&C meant that they could ignore the promises of 5 years warranty that their web site promises etc. They behaved in a thoroughly disreputable manner and I would urge any buyers of bikes to seek a local supplier rather than buy online.

I had to take them to court to get satisfaction. They lost.

I bough the bike through a company so the consumer rights act did not apply in any case. I got a fair settlement and they had to cover that and all the costs.

All of their arguments were rejected. If anyone else has to take this kind of action then I would be happy to share more on my experience. You have to invest quite a bit of effort (and initially money), so you really need to feel strongly that you are not prepared to be treated unfairly, and that you have a strong case. I was always confident that I would win.

The Warranty promise: For these issues: They should replace your entire rear triangle with a brand new one, at no cost to you.
...and of course, the work should cause no damage to your bike. This is the minimum they should do. Do not accept anything less.
Glad you finally got it sorted fella, but what a faff eh. No one should have to go through that. Ive heard quite a few negative stories about that store, pretty sh1te. Mine was Fudges in Epsom, utter waste of space once they have your money, I go to onyourbike in felbridge now, I have to pay labour but couldnt be happier with how they deal with the customers, just hope my frame lasts 😀

It looks like most of these are pressed in aluminum plugs, machined to accept bearings. I assume they are properly bonded to the carbon. In locations like the UK with large seasonal temperature swings the aluminum can shrink a bit, where the carbon won't, causing the plug to shift a bit in the carbon bed, breaking its' bond. With the cracks in the paint in a circle over the plug bond it looks like this is what happened. Probably not fatal unless the plug begins moving freely.

However, if the crack in the paint is radiating outward, away from the bearing plug, instead of following perfectly the aluminum plug seam (as in the nasty crack in Haibike Sucker of Chains' white frame picture), then you have a serious structural issue.

So I've brough a friends AllMtn 6 home with me this week to give it a full service before he goes away end of next week on a biking trip around Italy.

While cleaning the bike I found the entire bearing casing has come out of the carbon rear triangle!
There was no signs of paint cracking as he had checked it fairly regularly. The bike is about 2 years old and it looks like they only warranty the rear triangle for a year. But he's also the 2nd owner of the bike and even the frame warranty isn't transferrable!

It now looks like his entire trip is going to have to get cancelled, and lost deposit etc....
And I have absolutely no idea how this could ever be fixed. Looks like there's no way to buy a new rear triangle from HaiBike either.

Pretty bloody shocked as the three of us all have eMTB's and I honestly thought his was one of the better ones from a value for money point of view - but it looks like this is a design fault on the bikes and HaiBike are just leaving people swinging in the wind?

Seen quite a few go like this tbh. The frame and rear triangle have a 5 year warranty to the original owner and like most brands cant be transferred (excluding specialized and Trek)....Try contacting Haibike/Raleigh UK you "might" be able to order spares, however the timescales will be long. Another option would be to take it to a well regarded carbon repair specialist. It can be fixed and rebonded - carbon bike repair in leatherhead seem to be the best from the research I did, they're endorsed by all the big brands etc. Good luck!

If it were my own bike and if I read right; it is the aluminum sleeve that the bearing drops into? If so I would mix up some epoxy resin and re-bond the piece.

I would rough up both surfaces, clean, then bond the parts back together. I might first drill some dimples on the outside of the aluminum sleeve (not all the way through) to give the epoxy a place to flow into and hold onto it. I might further wrap the bearing in plastic wrap (to keep resin off of it) and re-assemble the rear triangle so the part sets in the correct position (in case there was any room for play worn into the carbon).

Not professional advice, just what I would do, considering there is no warranty to void

That’s what I was going to do with carbon fibre. But raceco have offered to repair it with new parts.

Will update here with pics

As an update to this Raceco had parts ordered and delivered from Germany within a day.
My mate drove down today, and within 40 minutes they had him back on the road with the rear triangle parts replaced
All covered under warranty with no cost.

I think this is about the best customer service I've ever heard of. Will definitely be keeping those guys in mind when I buy my next bike!

To be fair he rushed through it for the lad because he has a really expensive trip to Italy pre-paid for. But yeah I'm gobsmacked, astounding service!

Hi everyone, afraid to say my Allmtn 6 2021 has a hairline crack around the main pivot point on the chain stay on the non drive side. Currently have a warranty claim in with Raleigh/Haibike via the LBS I brought it from. Pic attached shows the hairline crack around the pivot point, doesn't look much but LBS advised not to ride it, which I wouldn't want to just in case. The bikes been well maintained and not abused, regularly check the pivots with a torque wrench although there's not much to check on this pivot as the bolt is locked in place with a grub screw. Fingers crossed I hear something from Raleigh/Haibike soon.

Hi everyone, been 3 months since I reported this to the bike shop I bought the Allmtn 6 from. Took a month to get a response from Raleigh to come through. Chased the bike shop last week to find out what's happening, still no new replacement parts but can fit a used one off a demo bike. Not really sure what to think about this, considering the time I've waited and to be offered a used part seems a bit poor. If this was a car needing warranty work, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't except a used part for a repair. And with all the failures reported so far, I wonder how likely it is for a used part to fail as well. Would have been better for Haibike to have given it's valued customers some reassurance the problems had been fixed. Curious to find out what you all think?

Oh and to top this off, the Yamaha handlebar controller backlight is failing so might be in for another long wait.

Wish it was only 3 months. I am still waiting for my replacement chainstay 5 months and counting. Granted they gave me a used one to see me through but 5 months to provide replacement parts is appalling

Considering my mates bike got a replacement sent from Haibike in 24hrs and was fixed in a few hours - that's just stupid.

You are not wrong, but no amount of complaining, emailing, threatening legal recourse etc has worked. In 2 years of ownership the bike was out of action 1 Month for a replacement rear shock, 5 months for a motor replacement and 2 months awaiting a USED part, Like I said I am still awaiting the proper replacement and that has been 5 months from when 1st reported. Loved the bike but got to a stage where I could not trust it. Your mate sounds very lucky, maybe his LBS fought his corner for him. In my case Tredz haven’t really helped me.

Hi guys ,

Very interesting thread and quite concerning ,after my lapierre e zesty died a death few weeks ago ,motor bolts in carbon frame went and no replacement available,

I've been looking at the 2022 haibike allmtn 6 CF !

I'm assuming that is the very same frame as the 2021 model with all these failures ?

I would avoid Haibike like the plague, 2 years of ownership, bike has been out of action for 7 months. whilst they provided a used tatty replacement chainstay, 5 months later I am still waiting for the replacement part. Between them and Tredz it’s been a disaster. I know all bike companies have their faults but seriously reconsider your choice. The inability to provide replacement parts is worrying.

Wow that is quite scary ,

I'm dealing with tredz currently and I must say they have been nothing short of great with my lapierre dilemma ,but these carbon frames seems quite concerning !

Tredz have been great from a communication perspective but haven’t really fought my corner with Haibike for me, Interestingly Tredz have blamed Haibike, on the flip side Haibike has blamed Tredz, suggesting they have twice sent the part but Tredz have lost it. I dont really know who to believe. But for a £5400 purchase it’s been all round very poor. The bike has been a lovely bike to ride and when it runs well its great.

I've got my mates haibike in the garage at the moment doing a service for him

Have to say in the year or two we've been riding together I was initially really impressed with the haibike's value. Very cheap for the spec, really nice forks, great running gear etc... but their customer service seems nothing short of appalling.

The rear triangle issue is clearly a manufacturing defect on every bike sold but they are virtually impossible to contact and spare parts are like unicorn shit. One of the local lads with a youtube account (who you will find if you look for haibike videos) had 3 motor replacements and endless failures until a reseller just gave him a brand new bike.

Shit show tbh. For the same kind of price ranges I'd 100% stick to Cube - I've had zero problems with 2 bikes, the spec isn't quite as impressive though the Action Team models are dropping in price a lot. The only issue I had was a controller die, took it to a local shop, Cube sent a brand new controller from Germany on next day delivery, covered the cost and the fitting cost and got my software updated while I was there for free.

I wanted to give you all an update on my Allmtn 6 crack in the chain stay pivot. After being offered a used chain stay which looked very well used, I rejected it using my rights under the Consumer Rights Act and the next day received a call from my LBS that a brand new colour matched chain stay was now available. Bikes now been back, new chain stay and Yamaha Side Switch controller fitted under Warranty and so far so good. Apart from having to use the Consumer Rights Act to support my case, the bike shop were very good and looks like they have done a great job.

Its not really the bike shops fault that Haibike have this problem with some of the models and a shame Haibike don't seem to be able to support the LBS with good supply of spares yet. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

Hope there are others out there getting new parts.

So one month later and yet another crazy call from Tredz. They advised they can get me a chainstay from Haibike, but it would not be the right colour. They said if I accept I would get A very small store credit, they couldn’t say how much. I rejected so they said that Haibike would have to get the chain stays painted. I now have to wait whilst this happens. This is on the back of Haibike Raleigh advising they had previously sent two?????????? I know not everyone has had the same experience as me but my advice would be to anyone else, avoid Tredz, they give the air of good customer service but have failed to support me with Haibike, every communication is with a different person so no continuity and when you get slightly irrate on calls they act like it’s you being unreasonable. Avoid Haibike also as their ability to provide replacement parts is atrocious.

So to give an update and credit where its Due, after leaving a scathing review on Trustpilot the Warranty manager from Tredz called me. Having reviewed my case she concluded that I had been let down by them, Haibike and Raleigh, she told me she was going to sort the situation. The next day she called me back after speaking with Raleigh and gave me three options. (1) I could get a new seat stay but it wouldn't be the right colour, (2) I could get a complete new Frame but it would be the coffee / blue colour ( Mine was bamboo Green) or (3) I could keep my bike as is, keep the replacement used scratched seat stay and accept a rather large partial refund ( and I mean Large). I accepted the partial refund and it was processed straight away. So Tredz came through for me in the end. The moral here is insist on speaking to the senior managers when things don't go right. I spoke with so many people in the warranty team over the last year that it lost continuity. The Warranty Manager was fantastic, understanding and courteous, and she did as she said she would and sorted me. Well Done Tredz !!!
