30+ Year MTB Rider, Just Moving Into eMTB

Hi All,

Been riding MTB for 30+ years. Kind of by accident I demoed an eMTB recently. After not making it to the top of a long steep uphill at a demo day event on a brand new Ibis, someone cruised by on an eMTB. I went back down and said “I want to try one of those gadgets”. Back to the same long steep uphill and made it up twice (first on a Cannondale, next on a Scott). I was hooked.

Then I did a vacation at Lake Tahoe a couple weeks later. Rented an eMTB (Focus Jam2 Plus) and headed for the Flume Trail. There is a very long steep uphill to get to the actual Flume Trail. The Flume Trial itself is the most beautiful ride I’ve ever done. But I never would have actually made it up that long steep uphill to the Flume Trail on my old FSR Expert. The eMTB allowed me to get to the most beautiful ride I’ve ever done. Doubly hooked!

After a lot of research, videos, reviews, etc., I’m looking to buy a Turbo Levo. Waiting for the 2020 line up to be announced, and the subsequent 2109 deals, to decide between a 2019 or a 2020.

Glad this forum exists. Looking forward to learning and hopefully eventually contributing.

Cheers,
Coggbike

Surrey Hills.
20 year rider here, never been shy of working hard on my bike, still aren't. EMTB is a game changer. Actually it's a different game.

Went skiing at Tahoe once, would love to go back to ride. But it's a few thousand miles from here.

Lovely country up Tahoe way - I can see why it attracts MTB riders.

Here are some views from and of the Flume Trail. Truly breathtaking. A photo op every 30 feet.

Down here we have Lake Taupo which has some awesome vistas too - especially if Mt Tongariro or Mt Ruapehu are visible.

I lived at Incline and have ridden the beautiful Flume Trail many times. Have you tried The Tahoe Rim from Sheepshead Meadow?
