Hi guys

For winter I’ve fitted 2.5 DHFs to get through the mud, the 2.8s on 40mm rims just float over the top. But 2.5s on 40mm rims are really square.

So I’m looking for a 29/30 mm wheelset, these won’t get loads of abuse as I’m 59 with a knackered back so it’s really cross country with steep big long climbs, if the back recovers I might be able to get back to normal riding. I hover at 14-15 stones

So far for a cheap option I’ve got the H-1900 Spline.

Buy DT Swiss H-1900 Spline 30 Disc 6-hole BOOST E-MTB wheels | ROSE Bikes

These but the build time is 4 weeks
BORG35 DISC 650B/27.5

I’d like to keep the budget under £400 as I don’t think with my current riding it’s worth getting an expensive wheel.

Any other options people would throw in the mix?

Cheers Phil

I have the non hybrid DT 1900, which have the aluminium body, whereas the hybrids have steel. Tempted to try them as the aluminium on mine have taken a pounding, about 700 miles on them

All Alu freehub bodies do that. It's just the nature of aluminium and nothing to do with it being on an Ebike. Infact.
I reckon I put a lot higher peak wattage into my normal bikes than I do on my Ebike and the added power of the Ebike is delivered more smoothly than I do alone so reckon so long as you do your cassette lockring up nice n tightly it's going to be no worse than any regular bike.
All my Hope hubs (about 8 in use just now, all on regular bikes) have far worse freehub body sprocket damage than in your pic.
