My 2021 Vitus eSommet on a recent blast out in the wild.
Since added 30mm rise Renthal Fat Bars with grips on the way.

I assume those clean photos are before your blast!

I have one, only the lesser VR model (no "s"), almost as good, but not really happy with the rear shock.
This was back when trails were powder dry. It's not so clean after a good blast now!!

My battery cover is POOR, a new "better designed cover" provided free by wiggle is NO BETTER (slight design change much like that in above link, with the addition of a small metal bush).

Last week we did a 2 hour muddy ride and went through some very deep puddles, at least 2 foot deep. Got back and jet washed it.

Took off the cover and the water and mud had only just started to seep into the frame/battery. Great you might think. BUT I had PVC TAPE stuck around the whole cover, without it I dread to think how bad it would have been.

So, I just had the battery covers off both of mine and had no issues inside either. I'd had an extremely muddy ride out at the weekend, like you, wheels and motor disappearing under slop at points. There was no mud seepage into the battery compartment of either bike. There was moisture and I had a wipe around but the battery terminals were bone dry. I gave the whole thing a spray around with contact cleaner before reassembly.
One thing to note though is that both mine are invisiframed and there is an overlap under the battery cover of about half an inch which I think gives added protection. It's only a little something but it seems to be working.
I keep an eye on the cover to see if it starts to flex out...

I assume your frame is is better designed than mine, when I get chance I will post a close-up (oohhh, donw and dirty too!).

Frame/serial number: I am still trying to find mine! Have you found yours?

I replaced my vrx shock with an X2 straight away, now got an ext e storia which is and should be the absolute mutts.

"ext e storia" - that is serious money, too much for me! Was the X2 any better?
I only rode the select plus around the block and took it off.
X2's a cracking shock tho, mines a performance with factory internals which will be up for sale soon
