Hi Guys,
I have 2019 Merida E160 , and i am upgraded to motor to an EP8. I have opened the internal setting to Race with the Eplus software. I am now looking into converting my beloved bike to with a internal gear hub,
there is a few types out there such as :
the first all have options to fit my frame with a 148x12mm Boost bolt and , and have a mechanical or electronic gear selector.
prices range from £400 to £1500.
Obviously i am interested with feedback for anyone that has done this , as it is something i am really want to do to finish my bike off.
I originally wanted to fit a Shimano Hub like the nexus or Alfie to the wheel i had, and utilise the Di2 gear selector what is on my bike originally to change gear. It seems all the Di2 stuff can be configured with the "e Tube" software, as it appears to be a Plug and Play type affair electronically. The spoke issue can be dealt with , by fitting a new Rim. The biggest issue can only see now is overcoming the 12x148mm boost connection to the frame. I either need cut down the thread bars on the Hub and machine some specail bespoke threaded bushings ( with a bolt arrangement ) or figure out a way of removing the main threaded shaft on the Hub with idea of fitting the original boost bolt.
Just dont understand why Shimano dont have this option as standard , as it limites this certain types of bikes !
unless if anyone knows another way ??
