So converted the Shimano driver to XD on a Specialized freehub (Formula XD S192100006) on my 2019 Levo Comp Carbon successfully and now running a 10-50T GX Eagle cassette (did have a Shimano 11-50 NX Eagle cassette).

Everything is working and didn’t need to touch the indexing which suggests the spacing between the 10-50 XD and 11-50 Shimano setup is identical.

However, I’m a little concerned that the orange bearing cartridge of the driver (see image) is ‘exposed’ albeit under the cassette and end cap. I would have expected some sort of rubber grommet to cover it? The end cap was supplied with the driver body, no parts were left over.

yep thought the same thing, just put on a new XG-1099 cassette, but didn't cause any issues. Its a sealed bearing (for the most part) and if you look at your stock freehub the end cap doesn't actually cover the entire bearing on the shimano freehub.

I would just say use some low psi compressed air to clean debris out of it if you are worried.
