Hi,
I have a long and complicated story. I bought a 2017 turbo levo st in Dec of 17. It ran great with no issues until Dec of 18 when on a ride (on the road due to snow/mud) the bike "died" with around 35% battery. I limped home with the motor/battery kicking on for a couple pedal strokes occasionally. I took it to a different shop from where I bought it due to the owner of the shop I purchased it at not feeling confident about ebikes/batteries. The other shop i took it to said the battery was "bricked" due to a "bad cell" (I don't know what this means). They did a firmware update and said it was fixed. After that i tore my patellar tendon, went crazy, waited months to get my mental health better, then had surgery in Sept of 19. The bike was not ridden, or was ridden maybe a couple hours total, by my wife between Dec of 18 and now. Being that I was close to the 2 year warranty in Oct of 19 (and I would need the levo working for tendon rehabilitation) I took the levo back to the shop that said the bike was fixed just to make sure it would be functional when the surgeon released me to ride. They said the bike was in great health, charged me $60 and I took it home. Then in Feb of 20 my wife wanted to take it for a spin and the battery wouldn't turn on other than with red lights and beeping. I took it back to the shop that said it was fine in Oct of 19. They said the battery was dead, needed a new battery, was out of warranty, the new battery will cost $800. WTF (thank god I'm on high dose Zoloft and antipsychotics or i would have had a tantrum). I explained the situation again to them and they said they would talk to Specialized. I never heard back for a few months. I went to pick up the bike in late April because no one had any memory of the bike or the issue and they had to move 30 bikes out of a shed to access my Levo. I then took it back to the shop I purchased the bike at. He talked to Specialized and they said the battery is fine and to replace the cable that goes from the battery to the computer. I then rode the bike on the street a total of 3 times and then it died in the exact same manner as in Dec of 18. The mission control app says the bike is in great health. Specialized says due to the bike being out of warranty there is nothing they can or will do to help me. The battery has 600+ charges left before replacement is necessary, but it will not work reliably. Due to my patellar tendon rehab i cannot be put in a position where I have to walk home or pedal a 53lb bike, therefor the bike is useless. Due to Covid I have no money to spend on a battery. I have had many Specialized bikes in my life. Any problems I have had with their bikes were never supported by their warranty department. I am very frustrated, but it is my fault for supporting this company.
Thank you,
Nate
