Trek Rail just ordered has 12 speed GX Eagle. Nice as I'm sure it is I don't fancy paying £200 for a cassette, considering selling it new and replacing with 11 speed Shimano SLX/XT. Thoughts or experience with 12 speed SRAM?

Edit say just seen the Cassette Life thread....

12 speed is a bit overkill on a ebike but that's what they come with so I just keep them, personally I really like SRAM stuff I'm running Eagle AXS on my Spesh and love it , it is expensive bit I think it's worth it, it's really easy to set up and forget about it , battery last a long time etc🤟 Shimano shifting is also has super smooth shifting and easy to set up , both excellent but I prefer SRAM , just my personal opinion 👍

The first question I'd have is "CAN you just slap on a SLX cassette in place of a GX?"
Hubs, cassettes, shifters, derailleurs... I don't try to mix and match, so I don't know the answer.
It's something to think about.

Anyway, I just replaced the X01 cassette on my eMTB. It had 1600 miles on it, and on one cog it would sometimes shift a little funny. I put the cassette on my Amish bike that has mechanical shifting, and is more forgiving of worn parts. On that bike, the 1,600 mile cassette runs perfectly.

The Amish bike that is now running the used cassette? It was running the original X01 cassette that came on the bike, which has 3,300 miles on it. Yes, Eagle drivetrains been very, very good to me.

My advice is to keep the GX. Keep and eye on your chain, and replace it before everything blows up. Lube it a lot before every ride. I've read that the X01 chain uses high-zoot hardened pins, so I choose that over the GX chain.

I was talking about changing the lot to Shimano. Will be changing the stock wheels for some DT Swiss with a HG freehub anyway so yeah, anyone want to buy a GX Eagle drivetrain?

I would run with it for 1-2k miles and then swop out. Cassette on my TL lasted 1,000 easy.
