rain levo towball

Next month we go to Scotland, to ride some of the 7 Stanes. To get there, I have to put my bike on a tow ball carrier, on a compact SUV. As Scotland is known for the wet conditions... Can it stand the rain during highway cruising? The manual says even a garden hose can damage the components...
