    I have experienced the same symptoms, and other red light related issues from the switch that does not seal 100%. I have since put a bead of waterproof glue on the inside of the switch and can say that even after washing the bike I no longer have the issues.

    Drove me mad the first two times. Either remove the battery when washing or put a small bead of waterproof glue on the inside of the switch. It pops out really easily and I am sure that is why water gets in.
