Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

https://www.tftuned.com/tech-help/100-trek-shock-guide Those are the shocks that fit, plus the DVO Jade X. You'll have to decide if you want air or coil, how much you want to spend, and read through this thread. Then you'll be able to make an informed decision.

Maybe eBay has the adapter you need? I'm sure the Ohlins is a great shock, but it's double the price of the DVO Jade X, yikes!

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

That's your call. 57.5 will keep the same amount of travel. I went with a 60 to get a travel increase. I paired this with a 170mm fork. I did try it with the stock 160mm fork, and found I prefer the balance with a 170mm fork. See this post for estimated travel for the different stroke lengths...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Per TF Tuned, it isn't compatible: Trek Shock Guide - TF Tuned The Jade X transformed by bike. The bike does everything better with it. DVO is still running their 20% off sale on their website: DVO Suspension – Mountain Bike Suspension Forks, Shocks, Dropper

Where are the 38mm coil forks?

The OneUp website is a bit confusing, or maybe I'm not that smart, but from what I can tell the threadless carrier works with the Fox 38, but the threaded does not. I want to go with the threaded so I can store a CO2. Thus the Zeb. I hate wearing a pack, so do all I can to avoid it. It's why my...

Where are the 38mm coil forks?

Wow, that Push fork looks cool, but way too expensive. I'll likely go Smashpot Zeb since a OneUp EDC doesn't work with a 38. Still, surprised at the lack of coil options. Seems brands making eMTB specific forks would be better off making coil options....

Where are the 38mm coil forks?

I greatly prefer coil to air springs, and the half a pound difference is irrelevant to me. I doubt I'm alone in this. Yet, the only choice is the Ohlins. What gives? I currently am running a 170mm Z1 coil on my Trek Rail. It's a great fork, especially considering how inexpensive it is. But, it...

A few updates and clarifications that I have learned from my DVO Jade X install: The comments above about trimming hardware now make sense. Fox and DVO shocks use IGUS bushings, but RockShox shocks use DU bushings. So, the people trimming are actually cutting the IGUS bushings to make them flat...

My Jade X just arrived. Before I go and break something, what is the correct way to rotate the shaft so that the rebound knob is in the back?

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

I chatted with DVO and they suggested the 500 or the 475/575 progressive. I'm leaning towards the progressive

Oh, goodness, thanks. I somehow missed that!

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

Interesting....so I may be better off with a 500lb spring, or a 475-550lb progressive. How much sag are you getting with the 525lb spring? Current fork is a Marzocchi Z1 coil at 170mm. At some point I want to put a Smashpot in the stock Domain, as I did like how stiff the Domain chassis is.

Anyone else jumping on the Dakotah bandwagon

I am all for it....Running 50mm bars on my Rail. With a dirt bike background, I am used to moving all over the bike as I ride, riding in the attack position, standing up and head over the fender. I want my ebike to handle similar, since when I am going fast, I am standing with my head in front...

Trek rail rear shock upgrade ideas please

I want to upgrade to a DVO Jade X. I have read through this thread, but given the variations on Rails and my lack of experience with upgrading shocks, I want to double check I have this right. Here is the setup I am considering: 2022 Rail 7 alloy, size Large, 625wh battery Rider weight (fully...

    Analysis Paralysis

A follow up: I was able to borrow an eMTB with a Shimano E7000 motor (60nm) and a 500wh battery on my trails to get a sense of range, since it seems to vary wildly. I did 19 miles and 2800ft of elevation in 2 hours, almost entirely in Boost mode. This was 4 laps of the riding area. I hit one...

    Analysis Paralysis

Yup, if the Repeater has a 750 rather than a 625, it would be the winner

    Analysis Paralysis

Now, that's funny :ROFLMAO: Also, I find it interesting that there are multiple people defending the honor of the Fox 36, yet zero people have said a good word to defend Canyon.

Giant isn't a brand that is top of mind for me, but see I have a Giant dealer very close. I perused their website, and the Giant Reign E+ 2 looks like it might be a perfect fit. Pros: Geo looks right (475 reach and 645 stack), Zeb fork, 800wh battery, solid spec (SLX), competitive price, plus...
