As we don't have enough snow for making any cross country ski tracks yet, I can still use the bike in the (sooon to be) ski trails wihout doung any damage.
I still do so on both my bike and motorbikes. Where I ride on the roads (eBike), the cars are few and far between. On my motorbikes, I of course ride among the cars, but still use arm signals if needed.
Didn't really build anything, but as I had some lathework to do for my Gasgas petrol endurobike, I also cut a flat face on a socket to use for the Fox fork top cap. It would be nice to do some experiments with the volume / number of tokens to try to make things a little plusher.
I plan to do a...
I haven't done what you are trying to do, but I have connected my front light to the Bosch battery through the 12V "light" connector on the motor. That is quite stright-forward when using an Bosch cable with the correct connector. However, all 12V connectors has to be enabled by your LBS. In any...
When I was young (~20) while waiting for my first proper job after graduatiung as an engineer, I used some winter weeks cutting firewood for my mother, pretty close to the house. All sorts and sizes of trees, the biggest were ash and birch. None in your 27" leage, but one big birch (by Norwegian...
I looked up your lamp and see that it has a max consumption of 24W. Since the Bosch max output is 18W, this error message is to be expected if the lamp is set at maximum output.
I have the same issue with my lamp, a Lumonite DX3500. It has 4 power levels, I can only use level 1 and 2 when...
From my early Saturday ride in an army training field some kilometers from our home. The local cross country ski tracks run in this area. I tried to follow the 10km ski track, but couldn't follow it exactly, as the markings are quite sparse and best suited for winter use. I'm not that keen on...
Miranda 165mm cranks. The left OEM Haibike crank kept on coming loose. When inspecting it closely, I saw the ISIS splines were quite worn. Hope a new set of cranks will improve the situation. 165mm is the OEM length, so no change there. The Q factor also seems quite similar.
I tried that once. Or rather, I got my thigh between the rear mudguard and the studded tire in a crash on my (petrol) enduro bike. Not to be reccomended. Could't ride for weeks. But luckily, the studs didn't dig deep into the flesh. According to the doctor, the damage was quite similar to being...
Yep. In many cases, you get better grip on ice than during summer on the same trails, as where it is muddy during summer, its hard ice during winter.
I also do some motorcycle enduro riding. There we use 7mm long spikes. And lots of them in each tyre as well. When riding on hard snow or ice, it...
Well, its a matter of interpretation of the law, I think. We need to have suitable tyres for the road conditions. If you are cought (perhaps after running off the road) with summer tyres during winter conditions, it's an offence.
So everybody in their right mind have two sets of tyres for their...
Put on my studded tires. Its getting close to winter, we have had some days with icy roads already.
The tires are the same as I used last winter; Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro, 2.25 wide. I rode approx 500km on them last winter, they still seem OK to me.
The winter is coming soon, darkness falls before I can get out on the bike during weekdays. Allthough I use my bike to work a couple of days a week (approx 16 km each way), I also have to go out in the evenings sometimes.
Did a 25km trip yesterday, mainy on tractor roads in the forest. Earlier...
A pair of GripGrab Nordic 2 winter gloves / mittens. Their description says they are to be used in temperatures between -5 and +5 degC, which I think is appropriate. Above +5, I use my 100% Brisker gloves with good results, and below -5 I guess it gets cold using anything but thick mittens. I...
