    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Right, so the place to get your data is not the guy at your bike shop. And no, I won't share client data. But I certainly would like to. And no, coffee shops aren't high margin businesses. Also, wow there are a lot of guys who work for bike firms on this forum who don't like this being shared...

Cool, conflicts of interest. At any rate, the data keeps growing, and it's showing pretty ugly gouging.

This in Europe? Not sure what you are talking about tbh.

True of cars & trains, you can walk? And cars are a component of CPI. When prices go up unnecessarily relative to inputs, people care and it's important. Just to be clear, you guys work for bike companies I guess?

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Some Ukrainians and other refugees here purchase ebikes as a transport mode, because they can't afford a car and there's no train line serving their route of travel. Just FYI. In that case, they pay a 50% mark up as standard operating profit, then another 50% sellers inflation mark up on top of...

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

The price of an EMTB is likely inflated by 50-80%, depending on the brand/model.

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

Modulation just means low power brakes. That's what I've learned now, having read on forums people discussing it, that's how I would describe it. Something like: "Here's a car that is more difficult to stop quickly". I wouldn't take the DB8 on anything other than a city bike because they...

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

The LBS is booked until summer, so I'm tasked with swapping the DB8's with Shimano SLX. Never done brake install before, hoping I don't end up with a bunch of oil inside the frame when I pull the DB8 cables out 😂.

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

Not suitable for actual EMTB riding. Nowhere near enough power. Borders on dangerous, imo.

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

They are probably counting on the product being new, there being no reviews, and no alternative available. But yeah, I was shocked too. Should have bought the Spectral but it's head angle is now 64 degrees and I don't need a bike that slack. I know, they are counting on rider ignorance!

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

Pads shouldn't make a difference imo. The neuron has 180/180 rotors. I would say they are most similar to Shimano MT400's. Really bad.

Your thoughts on SRAM's new DB 8 brakes

I just got an analog Neuron with DB8 brakes and I can tell you first hand that they are: Total dogshit. They don't belong on any serious MTB and definitely not on an EMTB. They would be fine on a city bike. No stopping power at all. Not designed for one-finger riding.

    New TV needed - 65"

Have you thought about a projector instead? We just got an LG Adagio 2.0 + JBL Bluetooth speaker, cost less than your budget and gives a 100+ inch image. We just plug it in and set it on a coffee table and project right onto the wall.

    Trail Tool Time

I actually gave some consideration to producing a Prohoe equivalent in the EU, as the production process seems very straightforward and the market should be easy to enter (no current producers, sector is not sufficiently large for big manufacturers to care, EU protectionism levies duties and...

    Trail Tool Time

I imported three Prohoe's from Kansas to Germany with a €10 Euro duty (I think farm equipment duties & taxes must have a separate legal section because I pay much more if I buy, say, swimwear for the wife). A 70H with 40-inch hickory, 70HR with ash, and a Travis Tool with ash. My kit was the...

What hardtail tourer would you buy you wife with €4000 this summer?

Also on the table, maybe even an Aventura2?

What hardtail tourer would you buy you wife with €4000 this summer?

This is the suggestion I made thus far. Didn't get a big response.

What hardtail tourer would you buy you wife with €4000 this summer?

Long story short, the wife's bike was stolen, but insurance paid back the purchase price plus our upgrades. She had a thron2 and wants to downgrade to a hardtail without a seat dropper 😭. So, what do you tell her to buy this summer given such news today?

Most People Don't Know How Bikes Work

He should have had a mtber in his rider sample. When he tells the riders "quick left" and shows the counter steering, a mtber would lean the bike and rotate their body (no counter steer). Veritasium could actually make a second video that it's even more nuanced, because bikes are in fact f---ing...

Most People Don't Know How Bikes Work

I will admit that although I have done hours upon hours of reading about MTB geometry and mechanics, this was still a useful video.
