In my case i was riding on emtb mode on both the Vala and Rail, so the consumption should have been similar. I'm guessing that Mikerb may be right and that running the MMs at low pressures could have added significant drag.
It was around 10C with the Vala. I rode the Rail on that same circuit a week ago and can't honestly recall the temperature then, but it couldn't have been more than 14C at best. Could a 4-5C difference in ambient temperature make that much impact? I really feel the cold intensely, and never...
I've a question for any Bosch gen 5 owners about their experience of its efficiency and battery consumption.
I just test rode a Santa Cruz Vala for the day with the Bosch gen 5 motor and 600Wh battery. I rode a collection of steep natural rocky trails and did a 30km and +700m circuit at which...
Some good points. Essentially there are two elements to this project: the "technical solution" and the "Bosch support consequences".
For the former, you may be right that we'd need to replace all the electrical elements along with the new motor. That would be costly and require some...
My 2022 Rail was the last of the "non-smart" Bosch models. Bosch now has a range of batteries including the new 400, 600 and 800Wh formats that go with the gen 5 motor. But it looks as if the older format 625 and 750Wh batteries come in both "smart" and "non-smart" versions, so I'm guessing...
I'd be interested in swapping out a gen 4 Bosch CX for the new gen 5 in my 2022 Trek Rail. I know that the new Bosch model has different mounting holes so it is not directly interchangeable. However, the old gen 4 was actually fitted into the bike frame by means of intermediate fixing plates...
In the last year we've seen Wiggle and CRC go bust as well as several established bike brands, Pole being the latest. Clearly the bike industry is going through troubled times and yet watching EMBN news vids over the same time period there seem to be a whole host of new bike brands launching...
My Trek Rail came with 165 cranks, already much shorter than the 175s on my previous Giant Anthem manual XC bike. But the Rail is so capable of climbing the impossibly steep and rocky "tracks" where I live that it has dramatically expanded what I can attempt to ride up. A total game changer...
Hi everyone . 65 yr old Brit living in France. Had to give up mountain biking a few years back due to angina problems but now got two stents in my heart and bought a Trek Rail last year. Am now a reborn MTBer and doing harder, steeper, more technical and challenging rides here in the French...
