Profiles, etc.
Don't get me wrong, i love the bike. My expectation is that it comes with the screen which is made for the EP8, not a retrofitted cheaper option from the E7000.
What's wrong with it? It's not even made for the ep8 motor and requires adaptors to retrofit it to the new motor. Also losing access to the extra features you would get from the proper screen
If you're running a Shimano cassette... Only use a Shimano chain, they don't shift well otherwise. XTR CN-M9100 is best bet, lasts the longest and doesn't rust like the the cheaper chains. Not a great deal more expensive either
I recently replaced a 150mm Fox transfer with a 185mm BikeYoke Divine. Super low stack height means you can easily fit a bigger drop in the same space. Works fantastically too, super smooth.
Both the OneUp and The BikeYoke droppers have a comparative (super low) stack height. Either of these droppers will generally be able to give you another 30mm+ of drop and still fit into the same frame dimensions as other brand droppers.
I moved from a 150mm Fox transfer to a 185mm BikeYoke and...
Don't be fooled by the Shiny new badge on the EP8. Its the same motor as an E8000 with new smaller/lighter cases and some software tweaking. Bosch Gen4 was a complete redesign. Shimano has missed the mark with EP8 and they have just updated the old E8000 to be relevant on paper.
I cannot fathom how some people complain this motor is "noisy"? The motor itself makes near no noise, there is just a rumble from the chain. No whining like yamaha, shimano, bosch etc. The only motor that is quieter is probably the belt driven brose. The DynaMe 3.0 is way quieter than my E8000...
Don't buy new replacement Merida/FSA bearings as they aren't sealed and turn to shit in no time. I replaced the bearings in the FSA headset on my 2019 e160 and the missus' 2018 e120 with some quality sealed stainless steel bearings.
Standard bearings measurements -
30.15mm x 41.00mm x 6.50mm...
54T worked fine for me on 350 hubs, upgraded from the original 18T, mainly for the noise to be honest. It moves people out of your way a little better.
