Is the rim magnet going to play nicely with future firmware releases if it is not considered the "fix" by Trek/Bosch though? That is one of my hesitations of going down that route...
Changing the mino link has an effect on the head angle, seat tube angle, reach. Rob also mentioned it gives about 5mm more rear wheel travel. Pretty sure that is going to change the linkage position slightly.
It is absolutely worth at least testing this to see if the different position changes...
@GlassKnee have you checked if the mino link configuration is the same across both bikes? It could have been in the high position on your old bike and now the new frame is in the stock, low postion?
Nice JP! I used 64% battery for 35kms, 1100m elevation and a mix of Turbo, EMTB and Tour (92kg geared up). I think elevation plays a large part in the drain rate.
Overall I'm really happy with my rail. Geo is perfect for my height, battery has been sorted with the pad and slightly bowed...
The cable that is attached the controller on the handlebar looks to be routed quite tightly, and would likely be under force particuarly when turning the bars? That may be the issue?
Yep I'm always suprised when people say they haven't heard it on their gen 4 bosch! Any trail remotely rough and it's there. I even hear it just lifting and moving my bike around the garage!
You do tune it to a degree though once you realise its normal.
Sounds like the standard gen 4 Bosch rattle to me... Have you only just started noticing it?

Just some feedback on this, I've had the damper pad fitted for about 3 rides on a 2022 Rail 9.8 and all seemed well. Then on the 4th ride all of a sudden the bike started turning itself off when going over choppy terrain (and mostly going uphill).
I removed the pad and have since had another...
My 2022 9.8 XT kept losing power and switching itself off on a ride today. Error message 501010 came up on the screen the first time other times it just turned off. Tried reseating the battery but it kept turning off with increased frequency. Sounds like a trip back to the LBS is on the cards...
Bike shop should be able to adjust/tighten the battery mounts a bit, they did with mine and it made a difference. Now with the damper plate its all pretty snug.
I'd let them have a crack and then you can determine which of the foam bits you need to put back in to get it where you want.
Thanks for testing that for me, much appreciated! Definitely puts my mind at ease.
It seems this is indeed the normal bosch rattle and part of the Bosch gen 4 and shimano ep8 design for better or worse. I was in a bike store this afternoon and could replicate a similar sound on an EP8 equipped...
Thanks Juju - I can definitely hear it in your vid over the rougher sections. The smoother sections not so much (which is the same as mine). Are you able to give the cassette a tug to see if it makes the noise?
