I've tried a few versions to protect this area and main issue I found was how the protection flap did not move with the pivot leaving a gap so debris still got into the area.

300 miles covered with it on and no paint has rubbed off or any signs of hot spots. The is a weald spot in the middle that is raised slightly so the contact of the flap is limited to this area.

I use mud hugger shorty on front and mud hugger standard on rear inverted and cut back. I then have designed and produced a pivot protection flap which stops debris getting caught up in pivot link area on muddy and dusty runs... see pics - availablenon ebay £7.50... Trek rail pivot...
