All sorted. I took it to my LBS who updated the corrupt firmware via the Shimano portal. HOWEVER there was still one part of the firmware that they couldn’t fix. Came up with an error code 34 - however because the system was turned on I was able to connect via the app and successfully...
Hi / I’ve a Canyon with a Shimano Ep8 motor and screen. I’ve not used it since April. Turned it on and through the app started to update all the updates.
It stopped mid way through and now won’t turn on at all.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance
The travel on the 38’s are 170 and for me are perfect. I changed the whole brake system / see photo above. Pain in the arse but they are my brake of choice.
Yes it was pretty complicated. Had to take out the engine etc. not ideal if your not confident. Plus having to feed the hose through and make sure it didn’t bend or kink too much was also a big issue. Glad I did it however.
Yes I’ve put a 38 Factory kit r
I changed the forks from the 36 to some factory 38’s
I changed the seatpost to a fox factory transfer
I changed the brakes to sram code rsc
Grips to my favourite ergon’s
Saddle to bell air 2
Yes sold all the parts I swapped out.
Mine doesn’t rattle at all...
I own an On cf 8
Medium and I’m 5’8 ish
Upgraded Forks, Brakes, Seatpost and saddle.
My first e-bike but it has blown me away, both downhill but uphill.
Got the 720 battery and never run close to empty. Tbh I mainly ride in eco and trail atm.
Any questions please ask, I recommend highly

So in respect to the rear brake change over / it was a ball ache !! The motor had to be removed to allow the new brake cable to be threaded back into fixings. Two man job as it was tight and needed to be gently eased around the bends in order to not kink the hose. Won’t be changing that again...
The hose is routed above the rotor. Mine is in my LBS having the rear brake changed. Seems it may even have to have the motor dropped down. I’ll confirm when I collect it.
Cheers for the pic TKB / looks like a new shifter is needed. I’m not a fan of Shimano brakes tbh and I’ve a nice new set of Code RSC to go on.
In respect to the brake choice - I suppose it’s a case of what you like to use isn’t it ? Personal preference and all. I’d love to ride in Norway...
Cheers TKB / on another note / does the right hand shifter use the regular clamp or the I spec integrated as I’m changing brakes to sram. Thanks in advance
