Well, you're gaining the sag % of a 180mm over the sag % of a 170mm fork, so you're getting more than 2.5-3mm in the front. But yeah, the amount your BB raises from a 10mm increase in fork height amounts to around 3mm on this bike.
I've been running the 180mm Zeb and 65mm stroke Super Deluxe Coil ultimate (~166mm rear travel) for a while now. Works great! To me, the Maestro suspension is plenty progressive for coil, and I'm running a 400# spring (178lb rider w/out gear). The hydraulic bottom out feature helps, but I've...
Can I get some input from you all on this? I'm trying to figure out what sizes to go with...
My 2022 Giant Reign E+ 3 currently has the original 29x2.6 DHF up front and 27.5x2.5 High Roller II in the rear, but I intend on replacing with a 29x2.5 Assegai front. I had dual 2.6s (DHF front/DHR II...
According to this bike geo calculator, going from 170 to 180mm fork is going to increase the unladen bike's wheelbase by 4.3mm. Doesn't seem like an undesirable change to me... but I want my Reign E+ to feel as much like a DH bike as I can reasonably get it to.
I entered in the Reign E+ size...
I say go for it! ...partly because that's the setup I plan to run with my 2022 Reign E once the 2023 Buttercup Air spring shafts are in stock for the Zeb I put on my E+ 3.
I've got a size Small (160mm cranks) and have had my bike in the 'low' position since I got it. But I finally set it to the...
Yeah, my 2021 DHX2 was completely blown after less than a season's worth of use, so I sent it into Fox for a warranty evaluation. They said it's normal use/wear/tear and not covered under warranty and will be $155 for a rebuild service + $25 for a new shaft cuz they said the original is worn. I...
Indeed. But if it's a RockShox, there's just a plastic spacer below the bottom out bumper that you can remove. It is probably a 5mm spacer or two 2.5mm spacers. If it's a 5mm spacer and you remove it, you may be able to run 65mm stroke, which would increase travel ~6mm. That's what I'm running...
Don't Fox 38s have a bleed valve on the lowers? I thought the whole point of them was to equalize pressure. Or maybe the grease quantity is in such excess that it is physically incapable of doing so?
I had wondered about the service labor part, but my shop hasn't charged me for any warranty repairs or parts. And I had a broken Maestro linkage that they replaced in less than two weeks.
Cool
In all seriousness, my LBS has been pretty good with taking care of any issues that have presented themselves with my '19 Trance E. I sincerely believe that their warranty policy is not a bait n' switch sort of a deal.
Yeah. I'm no electrical engineer, but I feel like that area is not as susceptible to water failure as the ride control unit.
In fact, Giant's website has a how-to video where a guy hoses down the battery compartment and the battery itself. I do this with my bike from time to time as well...
LOL
Perhaps I missed another post of yours somewhere, but I didn't see anything where you clearly stated that you had already used the search feature and found the results to be non satisfactory. All I saw was your reply to the other person saying "that's not helpful."
Anyways, the general...
The progressive ramp up occurs more than just at the end of stroke. Granted, it's most pronounced at the end of stroke, but it will affect earlier and mid-stroke as well.

I would agree with you, Tim. I took all four tokens out of my Fox 36s, and it was noticeably less harsh. There's a lot in between the extremes of full-travel big impact and small bump sensitivity stuff. Rider weight also makes a difference.
Yeah, seemed kinda weird to me too. Oh well.
So glad they redesigned the linkage mount and seat tube so that it's no longer an interrupted design and the seat post can really be slammed. Looks as though steepening the ST angle really helped to facilitate this.
