i did fox 38 170mm up front and 230x65 fox x2 rear on my base 29 model. im in southern cali we got a good variety of terrains set mine up to eat up some chunks and drops with the occasional jumps in between. pro model 29 i wouldn’t recommend going up on travel in the rear as other members...
you’re right the carbon rear or pro model shouldnt try this out that piece is waay thicker on a carbon. for us base model alu rear can benefit on this set up. hucked and dropped on this set up so far no where near from fully compressing internal bump stop. havent felt any bottom outs. again...
did a more stable measurement. 6.25 in = 158.75mm thats with the 230x65 foxX2 shock. i dont know how much the bump stop/buffer give. its safe to say 160mm rear. not an engineer whatsoever so take it with a grain of salt. good luck
before setting the air pressure up i did a rough measurement its minimum 165mm might be even closer to 170mm i ordered a sturdy stand from feedback so i can get a better measurement
being located in southern cali did play a factor in getting fox suspension rather quickly. it took 2 weeks from the day i ordered and signed for the package. the shocks are really good real plush not as plush as the zeb but fox handles much better on g outs and real chunky stuff.

thanks for the info i will stick to a 160mm fork i didnt want to experiment too much on this bike. i will keep an eye out on the new decoy if they are ever gonna release
