My LBS viewed my bike and then ordered parts (bike was still very rideable). Has been about 4 weeks to order, but all in stock now and going in for the work next week.
I called Trek initially and had a little grumble (other LBS gave me a shitty response about not supporting the bike), but they...
Hi all, I have the same issue. I believe that some of the marks were caused by muck and smutter on the chainring from wet and sticky rides, but I also had a few instances of chain suck... very early (maybe 100 miles) into ownership so I don't think wear was an issue.
Anyway, I called Trek...

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but a search didn't yield the answer.
I'm jsut going through my first round of drivetrain updates... new cassette, chain and chainring (all 12spd).
Firstly, its blown my mind how many different tools are needed... So, the £200 of parts needs...
Sorry... a further question, as I'm defo going to do this...
Does it matter which XT lever? I assume it matters if the XT lever is compatible with the 4 pot version, rather than the 2 pot version.
When I look on the Shimano site, its not very clear and casting my mind back to my fluid...
Glad it’s not just me... it’s seems a pretty stingy move on a mid range bike.
I’ve been riding with my buddy on his brand new Cube... whilst I love my bike and riding it is amazing, can’t help but be envious of the superior components on his bike, which was £1k cheaper ?
Hi all,
Hoping this isn’t a stupid question, but I want to upgrade the brakes on my Rail 7, 2021.
They have plenty of stopping power (I’m reasonably quick and fat, and they stop me fine) but it annoys the hell out of me that I can adjust the bite point on the levers. At least, if you can, I...
It's been a month now, so I thought I'd revisit.
The good news is, I still really love it. I've gone from riding once or twice a month, to two or three times per week and my riding has improved as a result.
Having listed a few grumbles above, I still feel that its a shame that there is no...
I just went and double checked. They’re deffo fully out. The problem I had was that the anchor points for the straps are fixed, so when the wheel beds are right out, the straps no longer secure at the bottom of the wheel (as the do on my roof mounted system) but they engage the wheel at 7 o...
Just a little follow up... the XXL straps arrived and easily had the length to hold the bike without looking too precarious.
Went for a text drive last night and nothing fell off:ROFLMAO:
Thanks for the feedback all... I will try the XXL straps, I did initially look for something like that but didn't find anything (most likely blinded by fury and rage, as always ;)).
Will let you know if these solve the issue.
Having received my new ebike yesterday (Trek Rail) I picked up a bike carrier from Thule today as my roof rails aren’t approved for heavy bikes.
Fitted the new rack (nice and easy), but the wheel straps don’t open wide enough to strap my bike down? Am I being mental?
I’m aware that the Plastic...
My bike arrived yesterday!
It was all too exciting, so I had to go for a ride despite the shit weather, so my first ride was basically in the dark, in the rain :)
Good points
The bike looks gorgeous and appears to be pretty well put together.
It fits... yes, this was a genuine concern as I...
ah right... yep in the UK we have government backed schemes called Cycle to Work, where you get tax breaks for buying a bike (cool right). Up until fairly recently they were limited to £1,000, but they changed to £10,000.
it basically means you pay for your bike “pre-tax”, so as higher rate tax...
I checked online again (very excited) and the stock level dropped... Just called them and they've sold two between midday and now!
Sod, waiting for the cycle to work certificate, I've put down a deposit to keep one aside for me
I've managed to find a 2021 Rail 7 in stock..... Forms submitted (for cycle scheme)... all systems GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Thanks for the advice people... This is the first proper toy I've had in 4 or 5 years and it feels VERY exciting
Oh man... another variable.
I've watched a load of vids, and yep the Trek Rail seems great. Options to buy last years model at a higher spec etc..... Evans are advertising the Rail 7 on budget (ish), but it seems they're just not in stock.... anywhere
So, potentially the overwhelming choice I...
