My advice would be 'don't do it'. The cable route is badly designed and it takes the patience of a saint to get even close to maintaining decent shifting after only a few rides. The original cabling on my (non-Di2) medium frame went from standard Jagwire outer to Jagwire Elite (expensive) then...
Thanks for the response Steve. I usually ride off piste trails in North Yorkshire and there's some pretty tasty stuff out there so this sounds interesting. Not too concerned about the battery, especially at this time of the year. All being well I should be ready to roll from the car park @ 10.
Running a full cable internally only lasted a few rides before it started to get stiff so external is probably the only real other solution of you don't want to go Di2.
My understanding was that if the bat runs out then there is still enough power to change gears although I've not tested this yet. Just be aware of the reason I upgraded in the first place. It may have just been me but trying to get decent shifting was nigh on impossible. I'd be interested to see...
As soon as I save it that's when it defaults back to mechanical. It's booked in for end of month now so fingers crossed they should be able to switch it.
Just as you said, after fitting the new switch, shifter and mech I get a W032 error which indicates I need to set the bike up for D2i mech. Tried STEPS Unlocker but it just defaults back to mechanical. Got in touch with the developer and he didn't have a clue why it wouldn't work. Also tried...
I've been working away for the last 7 weeks and only just got back so I'll try and find time this week to get everything fitted. I'll let you know how it goes.
It's driving me mad. I've tried to run a complete cable through but the path from motor to chain stay is so tight the gears start to cease after only a few rides. Thanks for the info although it doesn't cover connecting to an ebike but I can understand the concept now. Looks like a shifter with...
The problem with the 800 is that the cable run from lever to mech is awful. It uses 3 sections of outer due to a badly designed cable path. From factory everything runs smoothly but once you need to replace the outers it's an absolute dog to get smooth shifting. And having to remove pedal arm...
I'm looking to upgrade my e160 800 to Di2 but I'm not really sure how it's physically set up on the 900e. Could anyone let me know what equipment I would need or as a start post some photos so I can see how it's wired. I'm assuming I'll need a rear mech, shifter and at least a couple of cables...
I've got a Jagwire running from shifter to rear mech with full outer and it feels good but I've got a feeling it'll wear quickly with the tight bends. Time will tell.
Anyone have difficulty replacing the gear cable on the 800? From factory the route used 3 sperate outers (std cable to jagwire link to std cable). For the life of me I couldn't get a smooth shift through all that and having to remove the pedal arm, chain ring, chain guide and motor each time is...
I'm really getting to grips with plus tyres. How they hold up in sloppy Yorkshire off piste conditions I'm still to test but so far, so good. Running 20/22 pressures (80kg rider) and it rides really, really well although thinking of sticking a Vittoria Airliner in the back just as a precaution...
This has always been the law in the UK and I've been riding footpaths for the past 30 years with very little reaction from either landowner or fellow trail users. The difference now is the number of bikers using these trails. When I was a lad and used to ride locally you would never see or pass...
