    New "EBike" Regulations in California

Looks like California has tightened regulations on "EBikes" in Senate Bill 1271 passed in September. It bans throttles on class 1 and class 3 bikes but allows throttles on Class 2 bikes...but only up to 20mph. Maximum motor power for all classes 750w. New battery certification regulations as well.

    SRAM Flat Top chains

I have SRAM Transmission obviously including a flat top chain. So how are you guys checking chain wear?? I have read conflicting information and some that makes little sense to me!! SRAM appear to recommend changing chain at 0.8% wear as tested with either a stupidly expensive SRAM chain...

    Yamaha withdraw in the US

It appears Yamaha have informed their US dealers that they are withdrawing from the emtb market at the end of 2024. There is no information about their activities in other international markets or indeed their supply of motors to brands like Giant and Haibike.

    German Auto Industry

Predictably the EU and UK auto industry in general is suffering largely due to ill considered Govt policies to force greater production of EVs etc. The German Auto industry seems more impacted than most with the real prospect of factory closures, and it is not just the car manufacturers but the...

    ZF Motor and eco system

Whist speculation of Bosch gen 5 is rife and DJI is stealing the headlines, not much is being discussed about the new ZF motor and eco system. ZF is huge automotive parts manufacturer with an enviable reputation for the supply of class leading components. It has a " Micro Mobility division...

    Reduce the "waist"

The "waist" I am referring to here is that part of your body just above your hips which may or may not be smaller than your hips!! I always wear UA shorts as a first layer ....obviously with a waist band. If I then wear armoured shorts and trail shorts that makes 3 items all with waistbands...

    AXS and thumbs

I have never had any hand, wrist arm pain when riding......except since having my 2024 bike with AXS T type I have noticed some soreness at the base of my thumb on my right hand. I do quite a bit of manual work and am left handed so I do not have "office" hands. My hypothesis as to the cause is...

    2024 Whyte E160 RSX Review

About 150 miles on my 2024 E160 RSX and I am so impressed I had to comment!. I bought an E160 RSX when they first launched in June 2022 and it performed flawlessly for over 1000 miles and was so pleased with that bike I decided to buy the same bike again in May 24. The only real spec difference...

    Oakley Prism Trail

I have used Oakley Jawbreaker mtb glasses for quite a few years and always used the "Low Light" lens in them. Most of my riding is in Forests and as any of you who ride forest trails will know, as soon as you enter a section with a lot of tree cover any lens with more light filter puts you in...

Any DT Swiss Experts out there?

My rear wheel is DT Swiss HX 1700 with the XD ratchet freehub. Yesterday I decided to remove the cassette and service the freehub but could not get the end cap to budge. It did eventually give way but broke in the process...............the thin flange at the end sheared off. So I need a new end...

    Kiox 300 cover

Just got this from a small supplier in Germany on ebay. If you have Kiox 300 kit fitted but remove the actual display unit, the interface contacts are left exposed. This little cover keep them protected from water and dust.

    Learning new things!!

All of this may be old hat to many of you but maybe helpful to some! Flow App: I just bought a second Bosch Smart System bike, meaning I have 2. I tried pairing Flow to the new bike without success but it meanwhile connects straightaway with the other bike. I found I had to delete the app from...

    Canyon a good bet??

It seems to me that there are now not many pure trail EMTBs with a decent component spec........a lot of bikes are more on the long/slack Enduro or Super Enduro side of things. I have that type of bike well covered but some of my rides are more XC type riding.....bridleways, byways, single...
