    Heart monitor

Polar H10 for chest band. Super reliable and used as the reference when measuring others. For the display, I use a Garmin Edge 130plus. Small, unobtrusive and does not break the bank. Will also record rides for you and much more. If you don't like chest straps, you can use a Garmin watch...

Levo Gen 3 What tyres have you switched to?

Yeah, after 1600 miles (~2560Km in non-freedumb units), my tires are beginning to get a tad on the low side. On the non-ebike I've always enjoyed the Maxxis, but this is my first change on the e-bike. Do we *need* the DDs or is it a better thing to have (and if so, why?). Also, what's this "E25"...

My Old Riding Buddies Won't Ride With me Anymore

You should remind them that they're also cheaters for using gears. After all, any kind of gearing is a way to leverage force, even if there's no electricity involved. :)

Levo Gen 3 Levo Gen 3 : No firmware updates in about 2 years

The reason for this is how incentives work on most software companies: People are not promoted or get bonuses for fixing things. This is "invisible work". They get promoted for launching new things. The end result is what you see: Half baked products. If there's a given version of a product...

Levo Gen 3 Levo Gen 3 : No firmware updates in about 2 years

The only feature I miss at this point is a working "cap charge to 80%". It used to work, but stopped working entirely. My impression is that it worked until it reached a 100% cycle (10 charges or so). Now it always charges to 100% :(

    Bike Bells 🔔🔔🔔

The bell has been working fine. It's the "older" model that attaches to your handlebars (35mm) with a rubber band, but it's been working fine so far. It's actually very loud and has a sound that "lingers". I deadened it a bit by wrapping electrician's tape around the bell one (outside). This...

Levo Gen 2 Who’s the oldest Levo rider?

Not there yet (57 today!) but hope to get there with the same aplomb you folks do 😂 I'm in NorCal as well. Where are you? I'm in south bay.

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

Is this a foaming sprayer or a regular one? It looks like a regular sprayer. I've found some videos of people hacking these into foaming sprayers, which makes them more effective.

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

I was waiting for the MucOff kit to arrive, but couldn't wait, so I went ahead and washed the bike following all the recommendations here (no strong water jets, avoid electric areas, avoid cable entrances and headset). This is all nice in theory but in practice impossible to get 100% right 😄...

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

Nice! I got a "washing kit" for $40 and it comes with other stuff I need anyway. I'll buy the refills from this point on. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I've heard all sorts of good things about it.

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

That's a nice and complete report, thank you. MucOff is not a very popular brand in the US (even though I use their sealant and love it). I'll see if I can get some. One thing I'm trying to avoid is more scratches. I know, you shouldn't care about scratches on a mountain bike (and I normally...

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

Yeah I always clean the stanchions too. Religiously. Even on dry days. The problem is that there's a TON of mud in the downtube. I have to resist the urge to wash it off completely :)

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

Yeah my concern with e-bikes is all the electronic parts. Last time it was so dirty I had to use a lot of water and it ended up everywhere (on top of the TCU, etc). So far, no problems. I also try to avoid the battery port and the motor area, but water being water, we never know... One thing...

Muddy rides. To wash or not to wash?

I've been biking for a long time and I usually prefer not to wash my bike, if at all possible. Corrosion is annoying to say the least. Lately, it has been raining a lot in my normally very dry neck of the woods. I avoid riding in wet trails, but at some point it's that or nothing for months...

    New Wild H10 seat?

☝️ This is the answer. Both on the Ergon SM-E and it depending on your body type. I've had some pelvic issues in the past (pain and suffering!) and I was lucky enough to have an LBS that allowed me to test many different seats for free. I spent months testing something like 8 different seats...

    Bike Bells 🔔🔔🔔

O lawd, I see that A LOT, and I absolutely hate it. You spend a long time climbing hoping to enjoy the solitude, the wind, and the silence, and then some Marmaduke comes out of nowhere with some (invariably) shitty music playing on loudspeakers. As someone said, music is the only art form that...

    Bike Bells 🔔🔔🔔

Wow, what a timely post. All trails around me are multiple use, and many of them have twisty downhill sections with a lot of blind curves. I've finally decided to buy a bell and the Timber is the one that always comes to the fore. But maybe I'm too cheap but, this thing is damn expensive for...

Cheap Smart Watch which shows battery % ??

I don't know what's your bike but I can share my experience with a 2022 Turbo Levo. I've been using a Garmin Edge 130+ (bike computer). You need to install a free "app" on it so it can show the battery % and current help level. On a Turbo Levo, it can also display cadence and power. I also...

Plug charger first into e-bike battery and then wall socket, or vice versa? (or it doesn't matter?)

This answer makes all the sense. I've seen all kinds of replies here with concerns about arcing and plug this or that first. In reality, given the complexity of these systems, I'd venture there's no live voltage in the leads until the charger negotiates with the bike. It shouldn't matter which...

    I'm finally legal!

Now crossing fingers for Midpen preserves in Northern California. They have a LOT of land with some nice trails, but it looks like the board of directors is somewhat anti-bike, and even more so anti-ebike.
