Just following up on jaumebtt's post earlier. I've also got hold of an adaptor and it definitely seems to work properly now. At least, it works in the repair stand so time will tell in the long run. Fingers crossed this is the solution for those of us afflicted by the issue. Image attached to...
Amazing! Ordered.
Fingers crossed this solves my issues too. My previously hopeful magnet reversal only lasted half of one ride before the system crapped out.
Wild camp or find a cheap hotel anywhere nearby if you can. Pods at Spean Bridge are nice if you’re lucky. Park and ride from town is the only sensible option. Hide beer/gin in a camelbak or lose it at the gate. Get a gondola pass, join the queue early and get up top as soon as you can. Then...
It's not so much that there is fundamental difference between the old and newer versions, it's that there is a glaring technical error seemingly caused by Trek's use of the proprietary speed sensor cable and/or magnet. Every other bike brand on the smart system has no issues it seems, and now...
Update from me (Trek Rail 9.8 2023). I ended up going to the dealer and having them up the walk mode top speed. No difference, still crap. Haven't gone down the route of using a rim magnet yet as this requires authorisation from Trek and reprogramming etc. Why should life be simple huh?
Anyway...
No. This is why I shelled out for the system controller in the end. The scroll doesn’t work on the mini remote if you have the LED remote. Seems the system knows which controller you have.
Interesting. Do you have a bosch speed sensor or is it different like the Rail?
Still no luck my end. I asked Bosch, they said take it to a shop and they could change the speed settings on the walk mode, but if you wanted to use a rim magnet the shop would need authorisation from Trek (fecking...
I have been on your journey. After much painful experimentation, the only way was to buy a System Controller and a Mini Remote, the SC replacing the LED Remote and hidden in the frame.

Update 2. I’ve done what I should have done months ago and bought a system controller and stuffed inside the frame in a bit of pipe lagging. Finally I have a Gen4 Rail and as a plus it’s got a frame mounted Kiox 300 😂
Update: Seems like if you upgrade to the Nov '23 firmware you are stuck with an initial screen showing smartphone connection that you cannot move away from. FFS bosch I just had this the way I wanted it...
I spoke to a chap on the Bosch stand at Ard Rock and he said normal water bottle mounts weren’t sturdy enough to hold the PowerMore. Had to be designed for it apparently. I suspect there’s a degree of arse covering involved there, but worth bearing in mind.
