Hi everyone,
So I upgraded my Zeb Select+ 2021 fork to both the new Charger 3 damper and the Debonair+ spring. The install process went smoothly, although I do have a very thin o-ring left over from the charger 3 kit. I suspect that it might fit under one of the control dials.
Bike feels...
Hi everyone,
I’m keen to upgrade my Rail 9 2021 Zeb Select+ internals to the new 2023 charger 3 damper and Debonair+ spring (with buttercups). I’ll stick to the same original 160mm travel. I understand that this is a straight forward process with the relevant upgrade kits.
Does anyone have...
I’m looking to purchase a oneup mini pump. I’m concerned that the pump holder may not fit properly when attached to the bottle holder mount due to the width of the down tube on my Rail 9.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone,
I've recently purchased a MONTEER 8000S GALAXY V2.0 light and I need to find a solution to attaching the external battery to my Trek Rail 9 ( 2021 medium) .
The problem I have is that I want to retain my bottle cage and this doesn't leave any room to attach the ext battery under...
Hi beans,
I'm curious about fitting cushcore on a Rail 9 (2021). I've tried it once but found it too hard to fit. Did you replace the rim strips with rim tape? What worked for you?
Thanks in advance.
I’m from Aus also. Definitely go with the 9 (I did). It’s a great package straight off the bat. No need to upgrade and everything’s covered by warranty from Trek. That limits how much mucking around you have to do.
I agree with one of the previous posts that the upgrade route is also good. I...
I had the same problem. LBS said the same thing. They’re wrong!
I solved my problem by servicing the dropper. Instructions are on the trek website. It’s pretty easy to do if you’re happy to do this yourself. You just have to loosen the cable clamps in the battery area and loosen the dropper...
So I think the problem was caused by a combination discus needing to be centred on the brake pads and carefully straightening the discs. This has solved the problem. No more tuning ring ring noises.
thanks for everyone’s advice.
Hi everyone,
Just following up on how I went with this. I service the Bontrager dropper and it improved enormously. Much smoother and didn’t bind as much in use when I place my weight to the back of the seat. I found that it needed relatively regular services especially after dirty rides (I...
Rail 9 2021
How good is this bike! I can’t believe how much I enjoy riding it.
I‘ve upgraded the following…
e-Wild tyres
sram AXS GX derailleur
ergon grips
extra hub pawls for 108t hub
kmc e12 chain
Hi everyone,
I have a Trek Rail 9 2021 (medium) and I'm constantly frustrated with the stock Trek dropper on the bike. It seems a little slow to extend and I need to place pressure on the middle or front of the seat to get it to drop. It won't drop easily if I place weight towards the back of...
Thanks both. Ive just cleaned and centred the brakes. The ”ting” noise is definitely coming from the front brake. I can hear it when I spin the wheel after clean and centreing. Not sure why I can still hear It. I’ll inspect more closely. Disc might need a minor straighten still (I‘ve already...
Hi everyone,
I have a Trek Rail 9 2021. It’s only done about 300km. I’ve recently noticed a metallic “ting” “ting” noise. It’s only just started to be obvious. It seems to come from the front and rear, mainly front (but hard to pinpoint). I can’t find the source. It occurs occasionally when...
Thanks both. Much appreciated.
The cable came out easily but I was surprised at the number of bends in it. The outer took a bit more effort as some of the bends were quite tight, but it came out smoothly once the chain stay section was out.
Also… the existing chain was actually the correct...
Hi everyone,
My Rail 9 2021 came standard with SRAM GX derailleur etc. I’ve just received my SRAM GX AXS upgrade kit. I have a couple of questions to ask those in the know before I install the AXS kit.
1. To remove the existing shifter cable, can I simply pull it through into the battery bay or...
