There's a lot about the '22 Levo that I really like, but I couldn't bring myself to paying THAT much money for something that I know 100% is going to break, because every single person I know who has one has had lots and lots of problems with them. Motors, batteries, TCUs, wiring etc.
That...
In one of the Bosch smart system launch videos the Bosch guy did allude to a lightweight setup in the pipeline. He gave no dates or anything unfortunately. I'll see if I can find the video.
For me (my choice of riding) the Bosch update went the wrong way. I was hoping for better connectivity...
I think Spesh reliability is actually much worse ( SL models excepted) but their support is exceptional. My neighbour has had three motors, new wiring, two TCUs, a battery and a few other bits in just a year. Absolutely no quibble though and all issues have been fixed really quickly, unlike my...
At least they replaced it, even if the excuse for the fault was BS.
I complained about motor noise from the start and got fobbed off. "Let it develop, some of them are just noisy" which suggests to me that there's a big problem with quality control, but we all know that now.
It got worse. "Let...
I bought a neoprene downtube cover which helps immensely. I fitted some big eyelets into it to go over the bottle cage mounts so I can mount my lights battery to a bottle cage.
I also squished some blutak around the wires and cables above the battery but left the waxy paper on the...
Yes, the giant solution is a little rubbery 'comb' like thing. It does help with water splashing up from below but doesn't help with water going in around the catch and running down the channel on top of the battery, seemingly designed to guide the water on to the contacts.
I have looked at everything, and I'm currently waiting for the next batch of Lapierre GLPs because it's the only bike that I can see that does everything I want it to, spoke-mounted magnet excepted (I'm going to make a new caliper mount with the sensor in it and fit the magnet on the disk like...
The Mondraker is a far better machine, with the one exception of the Kiox display being very vulnerable with the silly forward mounted position, but that's easily addressed.
I'm in Lancashire too, Rossendale.
You also need to consider how long after water gets in that it becomes a problem. Water itself isn't the issue, it's the corrosion that occurs after some time, and the '22 bikes haven't been out very long yet.
Many more will come, I'd bet my house on it, because they're using the same family of...
Which kind of makes my point, they aren't good enough out of the factory and the dealer knows that, so they've added some protection to slow down the ingress.
Giant are not the only manufacturer to suffer from ingress, they all do to varying degrees, but they are the worst by a long way.
The...
