You can get the Trek rail 9.9 that weighs in at 21.33kg. Bigger battery, better range.

Different bike, but the Trek rail 9 and 9.8 have same spec just Ally or carbon frame and there is nearly a 2kg difference

Yeah true. I ride a yeti sb6c non electric bike. I don't Think we will ever see a yeti ebike, not until they change there switch link design. Wonder what model the santa cruz will be based on?

I don't think a 5 kg saving on the overall weight of bike, rider and kit is going to have a massive impact on battery life

Do you have the 500wh battery in yours, my friends rail 7 has a 625 battery, I read that you can buy them from trek but will also need a new battery cover

I'm not an epic mile muncher, the single 625 battery would be fine for 95% of my riding. I like the Treks slacker head and how it rode on the trail. But on paper (I haven't riden it) I prefer the orbea with 160mm front and back and it sounds like it climbs better than the Trek

I'm hoping to get a ticket for moraine, I'll be on my yeti though. Not ebike
