Yes one of my riding mates swears by his neck warmer. My problem is that I run hot so anything like that, or a hat or extra layer under my jacket while riding and I boil. I very quickly warm up when exercising - even just walking the dog!
A decent front mudguard is essential imo to keep the mud etc out of my face. Not worried out the rear end so much but am thinking about one of those horrible looking mud hugger things…
Otherwise good water proof gear from the feet up - sealskinz socks in goretex 5-10’s (recently got those trail...
They’ve already been back Apac - the camera floodlight picked them up peering through the garage window to see if I’d replaced the bike. The camera app buzzed while we were watching the telly but they’d gone by the time I went out (probably a good thing). Gave the police my video footage but...
My bike was stolen from my garage last yesterday, it was chained to an Abus ground anchor and they cut through the shackle with an angle grinder - we, and the dog, didn’t hear a thing. So I’ve upped the security with My new 5 stage system:
1. Replaced the crappy fence they basically walked...
I’m a dopey so and so, just remembered I bought a track pump with an airstore couple of years ago and put it away and never used it as I like my normal track pump. I’ll use that.
Sorry for wasting everyone’s time…..
I’ve run tubeless tyres for several years now but they’ve always been fitted by my LBS. I want to have a go at doing it myself and my only concern is getting them inflated quickly enough to seat the bead. Can I use a gas canister, or is there something in the gas which won’t allow the sealant to...
From past experience the goretex linings of boots do often eventually fail, in fact I would go so far to say that they usually do fail if the several pair of walking boots and shoes that I have owned, all from decent brands, are any thing to go by. Part of this is, as mentioned by other, due to...
Thanks for the long term review. Early days with my 9.8XT and only issue so far has been self induced (wrecked rear wheel). Going to change the stock saddle as I find it too slippery and will probably also change the tyres for something grippier. Otherwise have spent too much on just buying it...
I got some Army Surplus Goretex over trousers from ebay and they could be a good option for you. They have an elasticated waste and quite a loose fit and best of all only cost me £30 and they seemed to be new!
Yeah, apart from the high cost, common sense (which I don’t have much of) was telling me that carbon isn’t good with impact damage.
So that’s why I went for aluminium, but curious to know whether carbon wheels are ever a practical option - Maybe it’s just a racing/expert thing?
Took my 6 week old Rail 9.8XT to the Brecon Beacons for a big ride with mates on Wednesday and mistimed a hop over a rock lined drainage gulley and slammed the rear wheel into a rock which badly dented the aluminium rim and of course the tyre blew. Impossible to get the tyre to seal so ended up...
I’ve been having a clear out and selling off quite a lot of non bike stuff lately and as said I’ve been getting the 80% off fees offer pretty much every couple of weeks. The offer usually comes up on a Friday and lasts until end of Monday. The notification shows in the top ‘Offers’ bar at the...
As I’ve just bought a new Trek Rail my first reaction when Rob posted this up was ‘bloody hell’. Now having thought it through and seen what it all means and what the reaction has been I’m not at all bothered.
Bigger battery is too heavy - I’m happy with 625, esp compared to the 378 I had on my...
