Finally repaired it today after a month!
The right Yamaha part for the Syncdrive Sport is named PW-ST POM if anyone is interested and doesn't want to order the wrong part like I did. Basically it's a combination of the axle from PW-SE and the plastic gear from PW-X2. Ask the seller and check...
Yeah. I already asked the seller and he replied they're not the same. I need the one for the PW-SE version, not the X, X2. Maybe they're a different diameter? Can you measure the outer diameter?
I have troubles sourcing the spare part to Europe. The UK shop suggested a shop in Germany that is closed this week, so I'm waiting. I didn't think it would be that hard to get a stupid gear.
I'm literally thinking of trying to design it in solidworks and try to 3D print it. But I doubt it...
Found another post where the same thing happened to another guy. He says it was a pedal strike. Maybe it was a pedal strike for me too. All happened so fast.

I have 89kg. I have a theory of what caused it. I'm thinking the motor doesn't have enough torque to cause this, but possible has a lot of holding power. And if you tried to rotate the wheel backwards when the motor is on full power you could theoretcally strip the gear.
It's possible since...
Yesterday on a ride when going over a big rock uphill the motor suddely started making a strange noise. Luckily was close to home and could drive without the motor assistance home.
Today I opened the motor to check what's going on and I see the stripped nylon gear. I was expecting it due the...
Just installed Maxxis Minions 29" with Tannus inserts without any wobbling problems. Used a lot of soapy water even behind the insert so it would slide inside into place when inflated. A good tire lever tool and soapy water and not streching the tire side with hands is the way to go from my...
From my experience if the battery is discharged to zero it takes some time to even start charging and it doesn't power the bike. Also happens if the battery is too hot I think, it doesn't charge. You need to let it leave for a few hours for it to get cool and the internal BMS balances the cells.
Some other ideas maybe:
- the frame is bent and the battery doesn't sit properly perpendicular on the contacts,
- damaged or production error on the piece where the contacts are located, bent or at an angle, or shifted to one side.
- there's a sharp edge inside the frame that squishes and...
I bet it's the cable or the connectors on the cable that goes from the battery to the motor inside the frame. But I guess they replaced it with a brand new one on the first occasion?
To detect it would need to have a gear sensor, some sort of ground vision sensor or speed based on gps. Otherwise the motor can't know if you're riding slow or fast. It can't. Maybe if they really went for it by doing an AI based prediction from a lot of normal rides it could be usable but I...
How did you move the sensor? Any pics? I think it should work as long as it's possible to unscrew the sensor and move it. Also you need a good strong magnet to glue on the crank.
The sudden off was happening to me too. I removed the battery, blown the dust off from the contacts with compressed air, and cleaned both the battery and bike contacts with a Qtip dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Since then I did 5 rides without any auto shutdowns. So I guess it's solved.
Yes. I think so. I saw posts mentioning the new ones have sensors inside the frame.
Reverse engineering is not an easy task. I actually found where is the initial speed value stored in the RC one firmware. I just never tried to modifiy it since I never looked for a way to flash a custom...
But you have to be careful because the one from the battery is live and I put a female one on this one of course. The black is female, red from batt female, red from motor male. You can cause shorts and sparks if you're not careful with that.
