I agree, the shorter cranks are much better for hits.
But I'm very tall and heavy and I wanted to make more use of leg lengths. That's why I bought longer cranks with protection. It brings power and stability. After upgrade, my performance has shifted significantly (I was surprised!)
I have fox dhx2 mounted with all bushings and axle from Trek on upper side, so I have to change the blue plastic fox bushing only on the upper joint of shock.
For the bottom side I bought the original fox spacers (40mm?) and use the white bushing inside of shock and there is only axle by Trek...
I am 130kg and I was solving shocks also. I ended at RockShox Zeb 170 at front and rear shock is now Fox DHX2 with 700lb coil. I also tested airshock Fox DPX2, but that has been just on limit (350psi) for me. Because my weight I changed rims to carbon one - Bontrager Line Pro 40.
I was thinking about the Nyon21 too. But the size is too big for riding through forest and rocky hills. What about drops and what falls and bumps? The kiox is good size. I love the Nyon's maps and navigation and custom mode also.
I have kiox mount on the stem, because when I tried the Trek...
I bought fox stroke 700. But I have question about the shock. Is it better fox dhx or dhx2? Ues, O know price and controls count, but... I think that I prefer reliability (dhx has one flow only) and I think that high speed control is not needed for my weight and 700lbs spring or no? The dhx has...
@BiGJZ74 Thank you very much. I will buy it quick. So if I stay on rear shock size 230x60 (not 57), I should have to buy the spring 700x61 but not 700x67, is this ok? Could you attach the link to shop with that spring? The version has to be SLS or could be standard (if I cant find them on shop)?
Please advise what is the strongest spring I can put on fox dhx2?
My weight is 286 pounds (130kg) and I am using Trek Rail for trails and some enduro. I bought bontrager rims carbon line pro 40, the bike is stable but my fox dpx2 air is on limit.
I upgraded in opposite way. I had 165 e13 cranks and goes to e13 170. It feels much better now and it means more power by me as I can see in computer. Rpm peaks stands on 70-80. Maybe because I am tall - 6"5'.
I dont think you need better brake hardware (for one percents better) on rail 7. I think the best is to buy metal ice tech pads and thats ok for heavy rider like me (280lbs).
And better braking needs good rims and tires. I have bontrager line pro 40 - it is hard carbon and the wide keeps better...
