    New products we need

Maybe 200g. I think the shocks can take it. Most people on Earth won't really notice a difference. Let's be honest, it will probably be lighter than a Bosch motor controller.

Put it inside the chainstay, make it removable. You'd never notice it. You slide it out, detach it, put in a plug, now you don't have a kickstand anymore and are super happy about it.

ATM I don't either. But, I saw a kid riding through traffic yesterday looking a bit like this, but on a MTB: He likely wouldn't hear an ambulance until close, and he certainly wouldn't hear most traffic or people shouting. Also super illegal. But, it doesn't matter, people do it. So, put a...

    New products we need

Headphones--but not normal headphones. We need to hear ambient noise, but filter noise we create with our own bike, in order to hear other riders or hikers, and this signal then controls the volume to the music we are listening to. MTBSmart headphones. Kickstand. Why doesn't someone just add a...

Carry a lock on your external battery Spectral

I've been locking up the bike lately for trail work, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with attaching a lock holder & lock to the bike? Currently just using a backpack, but the lock is large enough (ABUS 6500/85) that it actually gets in the way of other tools.

    Derailleur hanger chipped

Ah, ok. I was wondering 'Wow, who in the hell would design such a fragile POS'. I guess I'll order a few more then (and wait until someone design a IGH we can use instead).

    Body Armour? Recomendations and advice.

Many thanks to everyone posting in the armor threads, including here. I originally dismissed armor and didn't pay much attention to threads calling for it after small crashes, as I avoid drops and jumps of any significant size and hadn't fallen much. However, I recently had a front wheel washout...

    Derailleur hanger chipped

When swapping out my cassette we and recalibrating the shifting, we noticed that the rear hanger was chipped. A small chunk of metal missing, right where the adjustment screw presses against the metal, such that the screw had nothing to press against. Anyone else experience this? I picked up...

When do you don your full face helmet?

Dude. Buying larger, more complex helmets is good for the economy. Do your part. That guy eating ice cream with a FF on the beach is employing your children or their friends. What are you doing? Do you even help print the unemployment forms for the bloke you are putting out of work?

When do you don your full face helmet?

There is nothing wrong with wearing a full face helmet all the time, regardless of skill level and trail difficulty. Brain bleeds suck, 100% brain function is awesome. This is an actor ?, safeties are a great way to not shoot yourself.

Hey where's my bike purchase recommendation? You're weeks late on that. ?

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

This is not a statement about the cycling industry. We need people who are aware and capable of sound political economic analysis. Statements and discussions centered on "supply bruh" do not reflect the reality in which we live. This 'neoclassical econ' narrative is deeply unhealthy for almost...

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

Lots of goods and services face constraints imposed by COVID, and not all prices are increasing like bike prices. Everyone is supporting a narrative created by someone, which may have truthful components. But be mindful that every time you hear stuff like this repeated, there is usually much...

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

To be as clear as possible, this may very well be the case. But, those conditions are not necessarily cause for a change in prices. The point is that the linkage between price and supply conditions is not so direct nor as simple as 'supply bruh', and more generally, the factor causally related...

Just realized that demand for US car production has been falling steadily for 50 years.

Price of bikes - some thoughts....

TP is just one of many examples. The overall point is that you are making a causal argument related to production that does not hold for most industries. At which point the usage of 'Well you know supply has been severely restricted...' doesn't provide meaningful analysis. When cars are sold out...

Here's data for toilet paper* prices in the UK. Note that toilet paper prices (along with similar use products) are actually falling despite COVID demand increasing substantially, such that shortages were witnessed. Bum paper is a great example because it illustrates the absurdity of 'bUt DuH...
