Being warm enough and not sweaty is all well and good, but the amount of water you carry when caught in a downpour means being soaked without waterproofs. It can make you want to end the ride in the middle of nowhere then and there. I call it, “Wanting to get home” syndrome.
Aldi have a crapload or cheap cycling gear. Best stuff is the merino range.
