I would agree with a bosch bike as above, Trek give the 2nd owner 3 years warranty on the frame as well. Some other manufacturers probably do too. Had my Rail frame replaced as the 2nd owner with no problems.
Yeah, I think if Trek did the Rail in a M/L that's what I would have gone for. Horses for courses, if you've ridden it and you like it, don't worry about a chart.
I'm 5'10" and a bit and on a medium. It may be in my head, but its very agile, for an eeb, and they're very stable because of the weight. I live in a flat County in England though, so it's perfect for that. Might want the large if I charged down the Alps every weekend. Also got 200mm dropper on...
Mine creaks around the main frame bearing on the top of the shock mount, if that makes sense? I blow mine out with the airline every wash now and spray a bit of WD lithium grease in there. Took me weeks to find it as it sounds like it's coming from the seat post.
Yes mate, got a new frame on my Rail, bike was a year old, bought it as an ex rental.
Got a new frame from Trek, local bike shop didn't sell it to me but handled the claim for me no problem.
Was really pleased, just bought the wife a brand new Rail, massively influenced by how I was treated.
Shimano deore, its a Rail 5 so dead basic. Needed a cheap cassette to go on a spare set of wheels, does the job, is rubbing a bit in first/second but hope a bit of fettling should sort it.
Just got back, seems fine. Needed a bit of adjustment at the shifter but I was getting all the gears ok. Probably need to mess around with it a bit.
Pretty happy though, especially when subjecting it to the grinding paste I've just put it through, I shudder when I've got expensive cassettes at...
Put one on my Rail yesterday. Seems fine on the workstand, shifts fine etc. Taking it out later this morning, its a winner for that money so long as it shifts ok in my book
Quick update, got mine back yesterday. Was still red and grey, but I think it's an older Rail 7 frame. New shock included and obviously, all new bearings, headset etc.
Asked my local dealer about future warranty, as I bought the bike second hand from Beics Brenin, he emailed me back a few...
Thanks everyone on this thread, made me go and check my Rail, sure enough, hairline crack exactly where others had them.
Not sure I'd have noticed without this thread.
Local dealer has been great though to be fair, took the bike yesterday and rang me today to say Trek will warranty it for me.
