Hey All
Well I am now riding the "Big S" after buying a 2022 Levo Turbo Pro. Previously spent 2 years on a YT Decoy that "had" significant DH capabilities over the Levo .. until now .. the tables have turned.
After the first couple rides on the new Levo, all I can say is WOW, this...
Put a deposit down (core 4) to ensure I'll have a bike next year ....
Preliminary takes on specs (100% opinionated and biased)
Pros:
1. EP8 Motor (no surprise here)
2. Lack of E13 parts on Core 4 (chainguide will be changed)
3. 160mm cranks
4. 2.8 rear tire is gone .. albeit the...
Curious to see what the new model offers ...
Only preliminary criticism ... OLIVE GREEN ??? o_O
OK .. so to be "hardcore" I should not care what color the bike is .. but if I am dropping over 10K on a bike/car/motorcycle etc., hopefully there are other choices for color. The color...
You need one of these ???
Just had my Fox36 updated to the 2021 VVC unit and have this one lying around.
Let me know if your interested and it can be yours for the "fell off the back of a truck" price
:)
In all my years of riding, I have never seen a chain guide so poor as the stock version on the Decoy.
I have gone through 3 of them:
1. When the bolts backed out (as per YT notice) the PLASTIC mounts broke (ordered replacement)
2. I snapped a chain last season and the PLASTIC mounts broke...
Well I'll update my experience giving the snow has melted and riding has started again.
Just finished reassembling my Decoy with a complete new drivetrain. Ended up going with the Shimano 42T 11 speed cassette.
The Decoy was the first bike I have ever owned with Di2 shifting, and I have to...
Hey Everybody
Shimano finally released a set of 160mm E-Bike cranks (** note: for the EP8 motor .. keep reading)
Background (why I wanted shorter cranks)
I have a 2019 Decoy Pro race, and decided to finally install a 2.6 rear tire .. BUT .. did NOT want to run the flip chip in high position (...
It can be done on most analog bikes but you will have challenges with the Decoy
If your going to add that much more travel, the way to properly do this is to decrease the HA by 1 or 1.5 degrees (head angle .. to keep the front end weighted and balanced)
If you install a angleset headset, it...
Correct .. sorry I meant the Torch hubs above (the freehub body is likely the determining factor and if the new 1/1 hubs or hydra hubs don't offer one .. than best to go with the original)
I am in the same boat (no broken spokes) considering wheels.
Couple areas to note .... make sure your rear HUB is e-bike compatible and your freehub is not aluminum (steel is what you want ... especially if your running an 11sp shimano setup)
My first consideration (if you want to stay carbon)...
YES !!! Had one prediction out of 10 correct !! (no pedals included)
With this "proven track record" maybe I'll apply to be a meteorologist :LOL:
OK so need to "copy/paste" in 2022 predictions
Time to just ride .................
And in a BLAZE of glory .. the new bikes (aka same bikes with Rockshox having some extra parts available) are launched. At least YT is nailing it in color schemes.
Who really knows what is going on behind the scenes in the bike industry. I guess its better than launching a new bike with Nov...
Predictions (from past and current day).
EP8
Fox 38 170 mm 44mm offset
HA: 64 degrees
Reach (size L) 470
Battery 630 wH (Shimano) - *** A real "cast" on this prediction - retrofittable to the YT frame via a bracket.
Shimano brakes and rotors
Bars and stem (e13):cry: (hope I am wrong)...
Have to agree .. even the "trail bike versions" TR series are quite a radical departure from previous bikes ... no tweaks here .
I am a huge fan of Commencal bikes (own 3 .. wife has 1 and daughter has 2 .. dad has none :() and am curious to see the feedback on the 2021 offerings. (y)
I...
Hey all .. will throw in my 2 cents
I personally think the geo of the YT Decoy works VERY well. Manufacturers are following a "trend" of creating these LONG REACH bikes that require significant changes to the HA of the bike (slack) ..otherwise the stack height and handling is negatively...
I would suspect this is much like the issue that Commencal is facing .. a supply and demand situation. Sure you can launch a new bike .. BUT asking people to wait 6 months for it might be a stretch (cue up the forum negative comments on bike delays  ... mmmmm .. haven't heard this...
I should update as I started the post
Ended up changing to a Shimano freehub and sent the E13 "hop skippety jump" cassette to its rightful place.
It now lives in MTB peace alongside my old 26" tires, fingerless gloves, triple front chainrings, gripshift and elasotomer fork ?. RIP E13...
You have to give credit to YT to be able to keep their bike releases so secretive and along the company lines ..... I want spy shots .. .. I need spy shots. ? ... somebody leak some photos ?
Heck I would even take a photoshopped pic - LOL
