Not sure how it will work on a Jam2 with the suspension design initially being digressive to the sag point then progressive for the rest of the travel. Might be a bit mushy until it ramps up.
I chopped a piece from an old MTB tyre and used that. It wraps nicely around the down tube and also naturally curves around from the down tube and under the motor.
The bash plate bolts secure the rubber under the motor nicely, my bike has a handy bolt to secure the battery under the down tube...
To answer the OP’s original question, my Focus came with DT Swiss EX1501’s and I have been running them happily for the last two years. I did swap to a SRAM XD driver from the outset so haven’t had any issues with the driver becoming chowdered...??
A couple of balancing arguments for the shorter travel bike....
140/150mm travel is ideal for Degla and will be a bit more playful in general.
Also an air shock will let you tune in a progressive ramp up which is more suited to us heavy guys. It prevents bottom out while still being supple...
