Thanks Mark. Yea that's pretty big that! But it defo needs something. I wonder whether using a sheet of thermo forming plastic and a heat gun would let the sheet heat up and drape over the motor and frame. Then cool and trim. Obvs have to be pretty careful of the heat by the motor is the problem
Hi guys,
I don't like the fact there's no rock protection for the steps motor on my merida e160 800. I noticed the vitus has a bash guard which looks like it would fit perfect with the exception of the top 2 bolts. Has anyone tried this or got any better ideas for motor protection??
Cheers, Chris
Thanks kernow
I think I'll be doing the same with regards to the silicone. I'll seal the electrical contacts, then seal the top of the cover. That way I might only have to clean it every few rides and not after every wet ride. Can't believe shimano didn't improve on this.
All the pearce tracks are still alive and some new ones. The classics BRINGEWOOD, hopton are still great tracks. Hopton is great for ebikes. About 12-15 minutes ebike ride up.... Then a choice of 3 or 4 dh tracks, and good runs too. Worth the ride up
I really wanted the vitus but out of stock and no clue as to when 2019 models were out. Both vitus and merida are very similar bikes and both very capable!
I don't have a dh bike anymore, costs me all my money to keep my lad racing lol. He's on a myst carbon ex team bike. Yes we were at Hopton...
Yea the difference a few little changes can make!
The levo was my first e bike but my lad is 13 now and riding dh regional level so I got the merida for myself so we can both train over the winter. The amount of time on the track with an ebike is insane.
They are both large frames, but the...
For any levo owners that didn't know....
If you have a levo with yari 140mm you can swap it to the 160mm or 170mm cartridge.
Makes a big difference to how plush they are and slackens the head angle slightly.
?
Good question,
Both rims are 27.5, but I hate the big 2.8 maxis tyres. So I've gone with 2.35 magic Mary's. But swapped the 160mm fork cartridge for the 170mm.
So little feedback from big tyres. Dh is my forte, so it's important I can really throw the bike dh
Ha ha. I slightly modified the levo for the same reason. Not doing the merida just yet.
Tbf you don't really notice the clunk much when trail riding etc. But very noticeable on tarmac, The levo is super smooth. You never feel the motor engage, but I have to say I prefer the shimano for the way...
Thanks Gary
Does this pretty much stop the problem?
Also I've got a 2017 levo, the shimano is on my new merida, so first time using shimano. Is it normal for the shimano motor to have a noticeable clunk when the motor engages? As the levo is super smooth engaging
Cheers, Chris
Hi guys
Does anyone have a fix for the very poor seal on the non driveside motor cover? Every ride in mud and the cover needs removing and cleaning as the electrical connections are full of mud and water
Thanks
