It's taped at the moment. But it does clip on around the frame at the front. But just needs some double sided sticky 3m velcro and that will be spot on
I agree 100% I had 2.35s on my 29er levo. Then swapped back to 2.6 magic mary dh super tacky on 650b. This was the worst decision! They are awful in more ways than they are good. Rolling resistance massively affected battery life and the way the bike rode between flatter sections. And they are...
Just don't heat it whilst on the bike! You have to remove it, heat it until its floppy, and then quickly re apply to the frame to mould
And use thick leather gloves or you'll burn your hands
You have to heat small sections of the plastic and form it manually over the motor and frame bit by bit. Takes a while but is a good solution. I'm going to do another one as the first one was a bit wonky
Will post a link in a bit, I'm going to make another one but make I go further up the frame. This will give the down tube more protection and also it helps the guard to clip to the frame so only have to use a small amount of velcro under the guard
This may be useful for anyone who has a merida e160 or unprotected shimano motor.
Since the merida doesn't come with motor bash protection, I made my own.
A couple of hours and some 2mm vacuum forming plastic
The only decent 2.6 tyres out at the moment are magic mary but they only do them in the ultra soft compound which is way too soft and heavy tyres. (I've got them on my levo at rhe moment). Or the specialized butcher grids. But I'm not sure on those.
The 2.35s are on my merida e160 800 which...
Yes narrower tyres dont cope as well with smaller stones and gravel. But I don't find it enough of a disadvantage to not use the narrower tyres. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages in my eyes.
Bear in mind this is on a 170mm front /160mm rear travel bike.
I would say that on a...
I am going to say.... I hate plus size/ big tyres! My merida 160 came with maxis 2.8 on 27.5. I've swapped them to magic mary 2.35s and it's a weapon! Run about 20 - 24psi depending on where I'm riding. They roll well, which aids speed and range. And give way more feedback than big tyres. Far...
Just adding my thoughts on couple of points,
I have got 2017 levo with 160mm fork upgrade... And now got merida e160 800 and I've put a 170 cartridge in the forks. It makes a massive difference to the levo! And adds a little extra to the merida.
After having ridden both bikes I can honestly...
As some have said, tyres make a huge difference. I had 2.35 magic mary on 29ers on my 2017 levo comp. Then switched back to 27.5 but with the 2.6 magic mary super soft Addix compound. The difference is clear! The bigger softer tyres have a much lower rolling speed and this eats the battery. If I...
