Thanks for sharing that. Quite a complete and transparent explanation. I wonder what this bit...
means for those that already have the carbon cranks on their M-TEAM/M-LTD?
Is there any actual comparison (specs or detailed description) of the various EP8 compatible crank arms from Shimano (FC-EM900, FC-M8150, FC-M8050, FC-E8050) anywhere? The Shimano website is particularly useless to explain the differences. Even the alpha-numeric naming convention on these...
I'm in the same situation with an M-TEAM that was shipped with alloys, and I got the email also. I'm OK with it, though I would have preferred $100 in actual cash (VISA gift card or whatever) rather than a credit to spend with them; unless you are planning on buying the range extender, a credit...
There is just one connector each on the bike and the range extender, either for charging or to connect them together. So to charge both at the same time you would need two chargers. An additional charger looks to be $110 USD.
@RickBullotta You're right, that is a fairly thoughtless design layout from a serviceability standpoint for sure. It's quite hard to understand why they didn't route the hose/cable up and over the axle/pivot on that side, like they do on the opposite (drive) side of the main pivot. Out of...
There must be no end in sight for the carbon crank shortage, as Orbea seem to have changed their plans. I'm one of the customers that received a new M-Team/M-LTD with alloy cranks and an accompanying letter saying they would be replaced with carbon cranks when available. I just got an email...
Mine's made the squeal noise from day 1 also. When I heard it on the first ride (literally within the first 1/2 mile), I was initially worried the battery was offgassing. Anyway, it's definitely coming from the hub area. I've tried re-lubing the hub caps on mine and it has not made a...
Agreed. I just started how waxing my chain recently, Southern California where the trail conditions are typically dry and hard packed. The initial degreasing of the drivetrain was a bit of a hassle, but things stay so clean now. I prepped two chains, so whenever I hose off the bike now, I'll...
Totally agree. I've got a variety of bikes waiting for me every opportunity I do have to ride though, so the eMTB can't get all of the attention ;) Having a simple, no-nonsense protocol for charging it makes it easy to ponder less about when and where I should choose to ride it.
@apac @Planemo Great comments on cell balancing above, thank you. Hypothetical real world situation... You come back from a ride with 35% SOC remaining, and you won't ride again for perhaps 1-2 weeks. Do you:
a) Leave it at 35% and just fully charge the night before the next ride.
b) Charge...
Hard to tell because we're looking at the backside in that pic, but from the finish it looks like a Deore derailleur to me. On a closer look, the one in jim0905's post looks to be an SLX derailleur.
I've seen more than a few people on these crank threads mention XTR crank arms as a replacement option, but I can't find any information that they actually exist. The closest I'm seeing on the Shimano website are the FC-M8150 hollowtech EP-8 compatible crank arms, which are XT.
Anyway, I must...
Wow, awesome! I have to say, that is unexpectedly generous from Orbea. And any warranty for failure of parts that are supplied by a 3rd party (Shimano for the drivetrain/brakes/motor, Race Face for the wheels, and so on) is always up to each supplier, not the bike manufacturer.
Here's the derailleur manual for reference: https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-MARD001-02-ENG.pdf What I'm calling the B-screw is what Shimano calls the 'end adjustment screw'. You set the adjustment for that screw in the largest cog, but of course it impacts the derailleur position (clearance...
When you say you adjusted the shifting, was that just the cable tension you changed, or did you adjust the B-screw or limit screws on the derailleur as well?
Had you made any adjustments to the B-screw on the derailleur? Also, your drivetrain is pretty clean, but I do notice a little rust/corrosion on the cassette and chain; is there any chance the jockey wheel bearings had ingested some water and seized or were not running smoothly? When in the...
That is very, very odd. Are you sure that nothing got caught in the chain and sucked into the derailleur, like a small branch that got kicked up or something? Hangers are designed to bend laterally (if the derailleur gets hit), but in this case it looks like the hanger rotated axially around...
I double checked and I actually have Eco in profile 2 one step up from the factory setting for max torque, so in other words, max torque is on the 3rd step (one higher than yours), and I'm still getting the range/consumption I show above. Each person's results are of course not directly...
There are many variables of course, but I too have been impressed with the range on the main battery. Orbea claims (roughly, converted to feet) range in elevation as 8200 (Eco), 5600 (Trail), and 3900 (Boost). My experience falls right in line with those claims. Here are some numbers from a...
I carry a Leyzene Micro Floor Drive HV in my pack. Well made, very light (despite the physical size) and makes very quick work of any MTB tire compared to any compact hand held pump I've ever used.
