Why? People will only pay what they are prepared to spend. If someone is prepared to spend that much, then why is it a problem? Personally I think it's great - i've never subscribed to the bullsh*t that as soon as you put the wheels on dirt, whatever your bike is, it's worth a packet of crisps &...
I agree (as someone who has an ERA & Storia on another bike).
They do feel different, for sure, but I always raise an eyebrow to anyone gushing over how amazing one high end suspension product is over other high end suspension products.
From experience, it's no 'better' than both well set up...
Ive got a suitably tuned Storia, which lasted about 3 rides until I went back to the Float X2 on the Levo.
For general riding, the Storia felt good, and seemed to work well, but as soon as I picked up the pace and went beyond 60-70%, it really wasn’t happy. Consistently running too deep in its...
I'd have to ask the person who built it, but it wasn't stock internals (machined bigger piggyback etc). Felt great, but sadly wasn't overly reliable. The actual 'design' of the DPX2 from a technical perspective is pretty decent - I'd be tempted to try something by Avy or a well tuned stock one...
In reality I think this just shows how we all prefer different things. For me, the suspension design simply isn't supportive enough for a coil shock (even one with a hydraulic bottom out feature). In certain situations it felt great, usually riding at ~60%, but turn up the pace when having silly...
Mine was a mongrel shock of a Storia/Arma, but it still wasn't ideal, even with the shorter reservoir. Looking at the E-Storia they have swapped the orientation of the piggyback to be a-la Ohlins so I would imagine it will be fine in terms of clearance, even on smaller bikes.
I'd still question...
Waiting patiently for mine. Was meant to be here already, but like everything, is late.
Spec made the most sense to me as I can swap bits off current bike, ending up with something better than the Pro model & after I’ve sold everything I don’t need, should work out just dandy.
Also happen to...
Depends how fast you are, and how big you want to go on your bike. If you're just a trail rider & out having fun, then you will probably get away with it, with a progressive rate spring.
If you're a fastish racer, ride hard, etc then IMO it's not a progressive enough design for a coil shock...
Definitely glad I’m sticking with the Gen3 Levo over this.
I fully expect this to be useless in the UK mud, just like the current Enduro is. That 6 bar link loves collecting mud & goes through bearings like fatties go through cake :)
There is a drop of bikes in the UK due in about a month, which will include the Expert model. There was a couple of the Pro model in stock on the uk concept stores pages on Thursday (S4 & S5) but they went quickly.
Very limited numbers on the next drop. I have an S4 Expert coming into the shop...
If you have the card that comes with the bike/keys I believe it has a code on it for replacements.
If you haven't then a bike shop will need to drill the lock out. Once they have done that, you can get the battery out & replace the mechanism, which will include new keys & the card.
Depends. Pre '21 MY shocks I don't think you will fit anything longer than the stock 57.5mm as the piggyback is really long. I tried one with a bit of tape to test for marks & it 'just' kissed on a hard bottom out.
Float X2 '21 MY fits in 230x60, as the piggyback is shorter (but fatter so...
Whilst I actually agree with you on the pricing point, the halo stuff is always going to be eye wateringly expensive, lets see what happens with the rest of the range.
Regarding the whole thing with R&D - perhaps they should have spent a bit more, given the extraordinary levels of motor...
The EXT was a pain as it needed to be custom built to clear the downtube, the Push went straight on, but the whole two circuits thing was mostly pointless on an Eeb, I just run the shock fully open, all the time.
Damping between the two was comparable, but personally I feel the Rail lends...
Hopefully someone could answer the question on here for me - do these use a headset system similar to the Specialized & Treks (i.e. bearings sit directly onto moulded carbon) or do they use more normal ZS top & bottom cup?
I am tempted by one and can get them on a decent deal, but would like to...
I realised I don't actually have the means to - then I looked at the later shocks & realised they have a weird lower clevis mount which is I assume for the thru-shaft to poke out under compression (and handily also allow all the oil to piss out when it inevitably fails? :) ), which answered my...
Easy to work out the numbers, divide travel by stroke, multiply answer back up by new stroke:
150mm travel / 57.5mm stroke = 2.608.
2.608 x 65mm stroke = 169.56mm rear wheel travel.
Things to consider. The brace on the seat stays comes 'very' close to the seat tube with the increased travel...
Worth considering they are slacker than 'official' geometry anyway (and a bit longer & lower), so your measurements are likely to be even further out. I run a 170 fork on mine & it's ~63.5 degrees. There is a lot of material around the HT, so that wouldn't overly concern me.
I would be more...
Mostly cavitation issues, repeatedly happening. Most (non affiliated) suspension tuners don't rate them overly for performance, or reliability - citing a preference to the DPX2 being a 'better' shock to work with.
I haven't tried a '21 new version, but I have a friend who has 2 bikes, both with...
