Challenge - 1000m of vert climb/descend in an 1.5 hours

We did this a couple of years ago, only we did it in 1 hour. 1000m ascent/descent & you cannot ride the same trail twice We managed 1030m, every climb was a Z5 heart rate effort & it was a wild bit of fun.

    Rail (750Wh) Rail geometry.

So, in reference to your previous point, where it was ‘very conservative’ its actually very similar to the Levo, which is apparently the ‘most up to date brand’ with its geometry? In reference to your points, comparing S4/L, which is what I was doing. 1. The Rail is 77.1 degrees, the Levo is...

    Rail (750Wh) Rail geometry.

Of course these things are subjective. But comparing a large Gen4 Rail to an S4 Levo: - Rail is longer reach - Higher stack - HTA comparable in stock settings, if you run a 170 fork on the Rail is 63.8 degrees - STA is steeper on the Rail - WB is longer too - Bigger battery on the Rail I’d...

Rail (750Wh) 2022 Bosch Smart 750 Trek Rail Thread

I would say my Gen4 Rail is quieter than my old ‘20 bike. It’s also quieter than my other half’s ‘21 Rail (less rattle & motor noise). The battery is a ‘very’ tight fit compared to past bikes.

The State of eMTB in USA

Not being American, I cannot even pretend to understand why its illegal to ride an ebike in some areas, yet it’s fine to walk around with an assault rifle. 🤦‍♂️ I’m assuming it all relates to land access/usage?

Levo Gen 3 Suspension and Coil shocks for Gen 3 - Fox 38 vs Zeb

It’s not really about the amount of travel it’s got, it’s more with how it uses it, which for the average rider at average speeds is probably fine & would be fine in those places. Personally, I found it almost impossible to get the bike feeling balanced, as when pushing on (or the couple of...

Levo Gen 3 Suspension and Coil shocks for Gen 3 - Fox 38 vs Zeb

Spending bias certainly is real. IMO the Gen3 Levo is absolutely not progressive enough for anyone riding at pace, or hard to run a coil. I posted before it was even a thing with Cascade developing a ‘long shock’ kit for it, to address some of the issues (namely there isn’t enough progression &...

Urge to buy a non ebike !!! Am I crazy anyone still regularly use a non ebike

My eeb is my least used bike. Have a Spur which is my most used, then my longer travel bike. It’s not that the KSL is a bad bike, (it’s really good!). It’s just not as good as the others. If I had to get rid of one, the KSL would be the first out the door.

Trail Centre - Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, UK

Most of that is the more known off piste which is commutable from the cycle centre. They are generally the easier trails & show up on the heat maps above, but as they don’t exist as segments, trying to make head or tail of it, is challenging if you aren’t a regular/local. If you aim for the hot...

Kenevo SL Official 2022 Kenevo SL (KSL) Megathread!

Just because it’s stiffer, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. Some flex and compliance is a good thing when riding down trails. For the same reason why people don’t run carbon wheels & complain about the harsh ride. Other than they break, too easily 😆

Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

I’ve never ridden a Rise, because the geometry of it doesn’t interest me in the slightest, but comparing a 12kg XC bike to a 19kg e-bike in terms of agility? Come on, who are you trying to kid? I’ve ridden enough lightweight e-bikes to know that they ride nothing like my 11kg Spur.

Kenevo SL Has anyone changed their dropper post on their Kenevo SL?

S4 with a OneUp 210mm. Ideal for me at 186cm tall, but won’t go any lower.

    Trek Rail Coil Shock Options

You can call me out as much as you like, no skin off my nose. I ran various coils on mine (with an HBO, which masked the issue) but sticking a GoPro on the shock to see what it was doing (then comparing it to the behaviour of a decent air shock) showed it wasn't ideal. The (reported) 18%...

Levo Gen 3 Price rises on Specialized website

Not that i'm arguing for the sake of it, as i've had both, but: 1. Not really, as shown. 2. Questionable additional cost, riding like for like distances & not being a 'typical' e-bike wobbler (riding up hills at 45rpm in turbo with the seat down). More time consuming? No. 3. You can. 4. Nope...

Levo Gen 3 Price rises on Specialized website

Yeah, it’s great to ride up fire roads faster and down trails slower on a less engaging, slower bike, that doesn’t ride as well :) I’ll take the KSL over the Levo for pretty much anything, as Iam not adverse to a bit of effort, for more reward. Had a Gen3. Have a KSL.

Trousers that fit knee pads or at least aren't like leggings

I don't get what the issue with the trousers in the first pic is? They look about the ideal cut (other than being a touch short in the leg). I'm 185cm, either 32/33" waist & about 80kg & the medium Nukeproof blacklines look similar when on, just longer in the leg. I certainly don't want my...

Levo Gen 3 Specialized Gen 3 2022 Levo Megathread!

Easily going to be £400 I would think, the link is £250 alone, other companies that make comparable yokes (WRP for example who they do colabs with) are £150 for the yoke to the UK for other bikes. But, putting a proper sized shock on there is great for the bike IMO. Really do not get why they...
