I've got a Shimano powered Commencal Meta Power with 3500 miles now just out of warranty but working ok.
A new motor is 900, and the now 2 year old battery is pretty knackered too, It used 50% capacity just doing 6 miles / 1300ft in turbo last week!! A new battery is 450 ish. So thats 1350 to...
Yes it'll be about 27% more expensive after VAT import duty and fees and if it breaks after 1 month you'll have to buy another as it will have no warranty.
I am size 12 and I use these RockBros Bicycle Pedals 9/16" MTB Road Bike Pedals Nylon Flat Platform Pedals UK | eBay which are composite, but I prefer them to aluminium (lighter, cheaper, warmer in the winter).
My e8000 has been pretty reliable. 2 years / 3500 miles, and it's not broken down, despite riding through some biblical downpours at bike parks in Wales.
However, there is noticeable range loss, and it makes a "grinding" noise sometimes.
I'd avoid Shimano next time because:
- unrepairable
-...
I'm going to say NO.
I think to do those mileages every part would need to be serviceable and I don't any can be serviced to that level unless it's some of the lesser used brands like Polini?
I'd use a hub motor for those mileages, also adds some redundancy either motor or drivetrain fails (if...
I picked up a 630wh in black friday sale. Clears the shock even when at full compression. On button is under the compression adjuster on the resevoir but can just about reach it!
Pic is a 2018 Meta Power 27 Large
I've not noticed too much difference in riding it, but difficult to tell in the...
Great comparison! I think it would be great if there were a few sentences discussing long term ownership of these systems and how easy they are to repair though (e.g. no spare parts for Shimano, it's replacement only!)
The warranty on my Meta Powers e8000 is expiring in a few months. Is it worth changing the bearings?? I have heard of Madison warrantying motors even after 2 1/2 - 3 years or so.
Motor has done 3000 miles. Hose has been nowhere near it, I think I've only washed it twice with bucket/sponge.
I...
I'm pretty sure both the EP8 and E8000 are 500 watts max power, though the EP8 has slightly more torque. There isn't a huge difference in performance.
The lack of serviceability and cost of replacement is the similar for both motors. I am not sure how other manufacturers compare.
Well, I've done a range test on my old battery vs a brand new battery. I think the older battery has lost at least 20% capacity after 14 months.
This is *not* just reporting problem with ST Unlocker or E-Tube. The range and capacity loss is real.
I rode the same trails (Steyning), same trail...
Very much agree with this!
I have a Shimano powered bike. No problems after 2800 miles, but I have only 6 months left on the warranty.
After that the only option to fix the motor is to pay 920 to madison! (no warranty with ebay motors).
Was looking at trying to get a Specialized on a cycle to...
I looked at this last time, but as with everyone else I found the price was a lot more than Rob paid in the videos. In the end I got a Commencal Meta Power frame for 2500 for frame/shock/motor/battery/charger etc.. It's worth keeping an eye on their webpage as the prices seem to go up and down...
If it's too tricky on iOS I'd purchase a cheap 2nd hand Android phone just for this purpose.
BTW, the firmware files are also within the Android "APK" files, i.e. the app install files. There are lots of APK mirror sites that store old versions of the etube app.
If you go here for instance...
