Oi! Don't you know it's rude to eavesdrop people's conversations?!
I mean, I'm pretty sure that the conversation I was holding with myself while I was pootling along this morning was all in my head. But the trouble with having reached this decrepit old age is that incontinence has set in...
Four of them in my street. All with Yamaha motors. Their owners love them. Seem reliable (especially the one owned by the DH nutter).
I was put off by the problems with servicing - the closest dealer is a 3 hour drive away and is not known for his bedside manner.
No, this is not another rant about 27 vs. 29 wheels! :ROFLMAO:
I've just been comparing the figures off my Garmin Edge against those from the Bosch display.
The distance figure on the Garmin is ±66.8km
On the Bosch display it's ±72km
I've also noticed that the handlebar display consistently...
I thought "perceived wisdom" was not to hang the bike off an extended seat post.
Is this just a fairy story to frighten the punters away from doing their own servicing?
That's what I was thinking.
My LBS were surprised as well. (I'm not sure they'd ever read the service booklet before - it's not in Spanish and I had to translate quite a lot of it for them). They're nice enough not to see dollar signs at such a golden opportunity.
Got my new Jam² Wednesday night and have just put the first 100km on it. The missus has had her Thron² for a month or so now and has put a bit more on hers.
Part of the reason for switching from hamster bikes was to control our heart rates. I'm too old and decrepit to keep hitting the 180...
Buried away on the Bosch website the service interval is stated:
A first inspection of the eBike by
a specialist dealer is recommended after
approx. 4 weeks or 300 kilometres.
Subsequently, the eBike should be subjected
to a comprehensive service check
at regular intervals.
I've sent them a...
I've got a couple of 2020 Focus EMTBs with Bosch Gen 4 motors - a Thron² and a Jam².
Both bikes came with a generic Focus service booklet giving the service intervals as 100km and then every 1000km thereafter.
Is this normal for Bosch motors? (If it is then I'm going to be seeing the service...
I retaped the rim last night (only one of the wheels went down - the rear one stayed up on second pump). I can understand the problem: these are Raceface rims with asymmetric spokes. One line of spoke holes is so close to the rim that it's really hard to tape without touching the rim. I guess...
That's the horrible job you get just before you stuff the tube in following a catastrophic trailside failure. I had to do that this summer - took forever to get the tyre clear enough of dry latex on the inside to be able to feel the thorns sticking through.
You might need to be careful about that... I have two powertubes for the latest Gen 4 Bosch. One is 500Wh and the other is 625Wh. They are both sized to fit in the same opening on our Focus bikes by means of a spacer piece added to the 500Wh battery to make it the same size as the 625Wh.
If...
Too impatient to play with the new Jam2 this morning, so when out on the bike without setting up as tubeless. A couple of hours among the thorn bushes and my cheeks were really clenched to the saddle waiting for the inevitable - which didn't happen.
Anyhow, a few things to do this afternoon...
"Accrington, Capital City of France"
Which is how a mate of mine got banned from Wikipedia a good few years ago. Every time he had a glass or two of wine (too many), he changed the wiki page... :ROFLMAO:
Nice bike. Looking forward to seeing more photos.
That would be the Shimano motor? The heartache seems to be with the Bosch Gen 4 motor. Focus seem to be feeding their local suppliers (including bike-discount.de) first and drip feeding the Bosch motored bikes to their dealers outside Germany. The waiting times are extreme.
Had I realised...
And then, suddenly, out of the blue, at midday today I got a phone call to say that the bike had just arrived at the shop and would be ready to pick up a 5 o'clock. I was there at 1 minute past 5...
:ROFLMAO: Don't go down that rabbit hole. You'll never get out alive.
[Clue: There are earthed plugs in the rest of Europe. It's just that, for example, the Italian 2 pins plus one earthing pin is different from the German 2 pins plus sprung earth connector. And then there's the whole issue of...
My missus has the 2020 Thron2 with the Bosch motor. There doesn't seem to be much noise from it all at because I often have to ask her whether she's actually got the motor on or not. Not too worried about a bash guard on her bike because it's set up for touring (the full EQP kit) but I'm not so...
Me and her, being old and decrepit, don't bother with body armour other than gloves. I enjoy my scabby knees - reminds me of being 6 years old again...
However, I slowed down gently to a stop to take this picture (not often you see a boat parked like that. Must have been a bad storm ? )...
I'm really not at all surprised by your experiences with Wiggle.
A year ago I did an order on wiggle.es ('cos I live in Spain) for some parts to be delivered to me here in Spain ('cos I live in Spain).
I'm not sure quite how they managed it, but the shipment got stuck in Customs and Wiggle...
