I would get it replaced. It's a quick swop out and they'll replace it under warranty as it is a known issue. Those of us who had the issue can attest to the fact that it will come back and the new improved controller will not have the issue. Mine has done about 2000 kilos after it was replaced...
I agree. That will probably give you the best result and after doing some gnarly trails day before yesterday with some steep climbs I'm leaving my seat at the back as well. For now I'm happy that I've got a very good feel and much improved confidence.
@Shifty
I had a quick look at the geometry of your Trance-E +3 (Size small) and what it would look like after fitting the Suntour fork.
Trance-E +3 fitted with Suntour Durolux 36 Boost 29 R2C2 fork
Trail 113,71
Head tube angle 64,75°
Seat tube angle 72,25°
Fork rake 51
Wheelbase 1213

The first thing to do here is to keep your changes to the minimum as you don't want your bike to suddenly have a completely different character and then not knowing where it went wrong. My changes are done and the comparisons are made on a large frame bike. It would be an interesting calculation...
For comparison between the standard Trance-E +2 and after fitting the Suntour Duralux, here's a couple of measurements.
Trance E+2 with Suntour Duralux Boost 29
Trail 113,71
Head tube angle 64,75°
Fork rake 51
Wheelbase 1260
Trance E+2
Trail 109
Head tube angle 66,5°
Fork rake 46

Firstly the motor only growls at low cadence. At higher cadence you hardly hear it. Similar loudness as Shimano just a growl vs a low pitched whine.
Secondly my Trance-E +2 climbs where all other bikes stopped climbing or started flipping over.
The Trance-e has a relatively long chain stay...
Internally adjustable in increments of 10mm from 150 to 170.
I left it on 150 for now as the axle to crown height is about 30mm more than my old shock. Probably a little less if the Fox is fully extended but it tended to sag on its own just from the weight of the bike. Comparison picture attached.
@MrTeno2U I think you need to do a bit of work to get the settings perfect on the R2C2 and perhaps in the test they haven't spent enough time getting it just right. In my own experience as a heavier rider currently weighing in at around 111 kilos (multiply by 2,2 for pounds) I found the shock to...
Mine is the latest reworked one. Mine's got the R2C2. I noticed in some of the reviews done in 2016 that they didn't like the R2C2 and preferred the simpler RC2.
Nico Quero uses the one that I've got on his Reign-E, so it comes with a very good reference ?
The first controllers had issues with moisture creeping in. There were initially also issues with bikes either switching off by itself or running off on its own. Another common issue was with the freehub bodies packing up.
My LBS replaced my controller and when the freehub body recall came thru...
Recently I spent some time changing a couple of things on my Trance-E +2 to improve the front heavy low front end. Here's what happened.
First thing I did was to move my seat backwards as far as I could go. This gave my a lighter front end and strangely enough the bike is now much easier to...
The intermittent cutoff issue as well as the issue with the bike that doesn't want to turn off is all controller related. My bike did the cutting off thing and after adjusting the battery it was okay for a while then one day after I washed it, it wouldn't turn off. I phoned the bike shop and...
Most people don't need the high end shocks and could benefit from a bit of tuning, making sure the air and spacer ratios are optimised. Also tyre pressure makes a massive difference in how plush your bike feels and how much control you have. As far as 29 inch is concerned, a 2,3 will probably...
Not a single issue on motors. We've had two Giants where the first generation controls failed but that was fixed and no more issues since. We also had a freewheel hub fail on one Giant and then Giant replaced all three the other freewheel hubs with a new stronger hub. The Shimanos had no...
I get your frustration. Too many bikers have their bikes serviced rather than doing it themselves and the market doesn't cater for us. I think you'll probably do better with a direct sales company like Canyon as they actually rely on the customer to look after his own bike.
Check their forums...
I also wanted to mention that we have an interesting situation in South Africa. We have a fairly limited choice with Scott, Giant and Specialized the only mainstream manufactured eBikes available here. Merida only started importing this month and the only reason we had access to the previous...
Your comments are fair. I have a guy that's had six motor replacements. Every other guy that I talk to in our group of approximately 25 guys are telling me they had their motors replaced. Even the people I meet out on my local trails tell met that. There is one guy that runs a rental fleet of...
