Evening all,
Was wondering if anyone was running a 27.5" / 2.6 on the back and a 29" / 2.4 on the front?
Not sure I want to increase the rake any more (the JAM is pretty laid back as it is) but prefer the idea of great edge control from the thinner tyre while leaving the back end looser...
Love the BMC, will try one when I get a chance. Currently have a Cannondale Bad Boy One for commuting, which seems to share a little DNA with the BMC. Let's hope BMC see the light with regards to Gates drives and Alfine hubs....
From my limited research I couldn't find anything at all that indicated any degradation of the battery at the sort of low temperatures we're likely to see in northern Europe, but there's plenty of evidence to show how they struggle to release charge when things get cold. That said, they need to...
Have been trying not to buy the kids ebikes since I bought mine....my resolve is rapidly crumbling!
Desperate to spend days together exploring the Spanish and Moroccan mountains, getting to places we couldn't dream of without them. So much potential..... but must not spoil them!
Another vote for the Focus, especially that version as it has just the right spec for the money, but I have yet to ride a Trek so couldn't say for sure. I have tried Bosch-driven bikes though and definitely preferred the Shimano motor.
I find pretty simple fleece gloves to be much warmer than many of the supposedly windproof ones. Move to full on ski-type gloves when the temp drops below about 8C.
We bought the T.E.C. packs and they work great for this scenario. Will be taking them to Spain in April to see how far they take us in a full day in the mountains. :)
Removing the battery is a 2-3 min job once you have the engine off, but it can be a bugger to get back in due to the wiring loom. The battery does have a really annoying habit of catching the frame on the way out, requires a fair amount of jiggling sometimes.
We had a dead battery recently...
We've found range is hugely impacted by so many variables that even theoretically-comparable stats are largely meaningless. Weight, temperature (of ride, and of bike before ride), climb, tyre pressures, modes/aggression, etc, all play a huge part.
Ultimately, the battery capacity is undoubtedly...
Without wishing to appear too dim..... best best for a small magnet? The only place I can think of is a clasp from one of SWMBOs handbags, but the price paid would be far too high!
Hi,
One of our little speed sensor magnets (Focus JAM2 / Shimano E8000) has been knocked off and we're struggling to find a replacement. Would anyone know where to get one? Found a place in Italy that only want €3 for the magnet but €17 for postage!
Cheers.
This is my 11yr old, yesterday, on my large JAM2.... it's everything I can do to keep him off it! Thank god for laws demanding he be 14yrs old before getting one...
His own bike is a Diamondback Lumis 2.0 which we picked up at less than half the RRP. It's not that light for a carbon bike but...
Will probably try a 2.4 with a grippier tread (Schwalbe Magic Mary?) for serious mud-plugging next.
Have been on slippy mud/rocks/leaves all week near Angouleme and although it wouldn't have made much of a difference what tyres you were on, a little extra edge grip on the corners would have...
Definitely two presses, the first press can be 30 secs and nothing springs to life.
My understanding is that the systems goes into sleep mode after a certain time and the first press is required to wake it, but that's only a layman's interpretation of what I've read so far.
Mine requires two presses of the top button to start it, every time, and can get truculent after a good wash (again, never with a pressure washer). Turn it upside down, bounce it a bit, squirt in some WD40, and it's ok, but it's been logged as a warranty job so hopefully will be sorted soon.
Me and a good friend both have JAM2s, mine's a Ltd, his is a Pro, and we absolutely love 'em. Have both had some technical gremlins, especially after washing, but nothing that stops play. Both still waiting for TEC packs to arrive but still getting 2-3hrs of mostly-boost riding.
Off down...
