Specialized levo turbo 2020 crank spindle snapped

I'm no expert, but I can't see how that would not be a warranty issue. Can I ask: were you pedaling standing up when the spindle broke? Were you injured? Some other related threads: Crank snapped my axle...

    Brake piston retractor tool

I think you can leave the old pads in place, insert the tool between the old pads, and push on the old pads to push back the pistons. This way I think your pistons would be protected.

SRAM's new 2023 Drivetrain allows full power shifts

Perhaps the new Eagle Transmission is not so great for carbon frames, but is great for aluminum or steel frames?

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

I just received the Specialized commuter helmet - it fits well and is comfortable. I am going to mark my previous post as the answer; well at least a resolution to my query. Thanks again everybody for your comments!

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

Well I don't think there is a definitive answer as to whether meeting the Dutch NTA-8766 standard means that a helmet is safer. But based on the comments here in this thread, I just picked up a road helmet (Bontrager wavecel), and I ordered the Specialized mode mips commuter helmet. There were...

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

I think the speed one can reach on an eMTB or an aMTB depends on the rider. The only time I hit speeds greater than only 32km/hr on my Trek Powerfly (speed at which the motor cuts off) is when I am going downhill (I am not a strong rider). I think you are right that full face helmets are the...

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

I definitely agree with you the claims made by Trek about Wavecel are suspect, for the reasons given in your post. But MIPS apparently was disingenuous in their criticism of Wavecel, because their testing methodology of Wavecel was flawed at best, inappropriate at worst. Trek's New Bike Helmet...

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

I am no expert on MIPS, but from what I've read, there is in fact no good evidence that MIPS lessens the severity of head injuries. What is characteristic of a good helmet is one that is round/spherical and smooth, which allows the helmet to glide on impact. Helmets with all those ridges...

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

An "ebike rated helmet" meets the Dutch NTA-8776 standard. An ebike helmet is given the NTA-8776 standard if it can protect you at speeds up to 45km/hr (please don't ask me how they test for this, because I don't know). My understanding is that to meet the CPSC standard in the US and Canada (the...

Commuter style helmets (e-bike certified) for mountain biking, road cycling?

I need a new helmet, and came across "commuter" helmets rated for e-bikes (according to Dutch e-bike Standard NTA8776). Examples: 1. Specialized Mode Helmet Mode | Specialized.com 2. Trek Charge WaveCel Bontrager...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Sure! Unfortunately not from ebay; I got it from ebike24.com, an online store in Germany: MH - Protective Cover for Bosch Purion Display

Did you then decide to do away with the cover? Thanks for the tip!

Trek Rail - Carbon Frame Crash Damage

I was riding home from the bike shop, maybe a km away. The road was pretty busy, with cars flying past. I decided I should get on the sidewalk. There was some gravel on the curb of the sidewalk - which I saw. But I said to myself this is a "gravel bike", so I'll be okay. Upon mounting the curb...

Trek Rail - Carbon Frame Crash Damage

I can empathize with you. I crashed my carbon Specialized Diverge within a few minutes of purchase - on riding out of the bike shop :( The frame cracked in 3 places: 2 cracks on the side of the crash, the 3rd on the opposite side. Specialized, like Trek in your case, offered me a 20% discount...

    Rail OEM pedals

I agree. My 2019 Trek Powerfly came with "cheap" plastic pedals (VP-536). I also have a pair of aluminum pedals (Hope F20) sitting on a shelf. But the "cheap" plastic pedals have worked fine (4,000 km so far). I doubt I would notice a difference if I installed the F20 pedals. And because I worry...
