With eMTB, the "e" actually stands for Explore! You could always look on Strava or TrailForks etc to see where others ride and you can often find routes you never knew existed...
I think your weight and riding style with impact how long the chain and cassette will last, however bike shops will generally not provide warranty support for those types of components...
