I have two friends (both riding Levos) that both had to swap out the Magura MT7 front caliper and lever due to not being able to bleed them properly. They were installed by a professional bike shop and the bled them over 40 times. Bike shops took them back no problem but they are very hit and...
I went with the XT 4 Piston with the sintered metal pads and the 203mm front and 180mm rear icetech rotors. Awesome brakes. I have a post about swapping out the SRAM rear brake hose for the Shimano.
Yes I read that last night.
The bike build he did at the beginning of 2020 is where I got the idea from originally but I am pleased that he provided more details of the adjustments so I will know how to fine tune everything. I have to get a new wheel set first with microspline.
The big...
For the Maxxis Minions there are several different tread compounds (Max Terra, 3C, Max Grip...or whatever) as well to consider as they offer more grip the softer you go.
Speed difference between full fat Levo versus the Levo Sl is completely trail dependant. I didn't see any flat or rolling sections of trail in their test where the SL could shine nor was there any fast technical downhill sections where the Kenevo would shine.
If the trail has any substantial...
We have the bottom of the barrel SRAM cassette and derailleur on the SL expert and comp carbon so the shifting wont get any better until you change to something else. I plan on changing to the Shimano 12 speed HG+ cassette (XT level) and chain when I get a new wheelset with shimano microspline...
Update on the EXT Storia Lock 3 shock:. 210 x 55 with 550 lb spring. Bike size large flip-chip in low position. I'm 5'11" tall and weigh 195 lbs with all gear and water/pack on the bike.
Shock fits but the piggyback reservoir does make contact with the range extender or a tall water bottle...
The SL is also close to 10 lbs less weight for a louder motor with much less rolling resistance and better handling than the standard Levo. You have to pick your Poison.
You can get the SL down to 34 lbs but you will need to use light weight parts and determine what you want to sacrifice to achieve the lowest weight if that is what you are after.
Changing to lighter weight wheel set and a lighter cassette could drop several hundred grams and of course carbon cranks and lighter saddle. Lighter weight tires will be a trade off by potentially giving up durability and grip.
Problem:
I had an annoyingly loud creak in the main pivot bearings on the new SL.
Solution:
I disassembled the main pivot and found two black anodized spacers on the non drive side and no spacers on the drive side. I checked the bearings for any notchiness and found them smooth and put one...
Just arrived in less than 3 weeks from the Italian factory to California. Can't wait to install it and take it for a spin. Not sure I'll be able to fully test it adequately with the lock down but I'll try and get out on some local trails near my home.
I should get my new EXT Storia Lok 3 today or Monday for my new SL. I ordered it from Brennan Autosport. I got the 210x55 and it comes with the 550 and 575 lb springs. I am riding a L size SL and I am 5'11" tall and weigh about 192 lbs with all my riding gear on. I'll keep everyone...
Etoni...how do you like the 160mm travel fork and does it make the bike lift on steep climbs?
Also really curious about the rear shock size and how it feels and handles? What position is your flip chip in?
