I find that sitting more upright tares the weight off my hands. Watched a video on handlebars, they said lower flatter for climbing (weight forward) and higher for descending
I put OneUp 35mm Carbon bars on with the 35mm rise. They also have some flex built in to help save your hands. You will need a new stem fitting as the stock Rail 9.7 has 31.7? bars
I think the motor housing is magnesium and it is more subject to corrosion the typical aluminum. You could try something like Boshield T-9 Aresol spray. it is Boeing's replacement for WD40 and works wonders. I have had boats in salt water and just douse things with the T-9 when clean and new...
Added some 35mm OneUp Carbon Bars and half waffle grips. Saves my hands some, super light and i like the feel of the up swept bars Vs the flat bars that came on it
I swapped the 35mm carbon OneUp bars and half waffle grips over from my Fuel. These bars are super light and designed to flex a little and save your hands
Rode the hoot trail last weekend. 2 laps, one with the grand daughters and one solo. sub 20 min lap solo. Smoked my best DH time with the Fuel EX. I was railing the berms but need some work to be able to huck the kickers.
Switched to the dark side last week. Purchased a 2021 TREK 9.7 Rail. Selling my 2020 TREK 9.7 Fuel EX. I was concerned about going from a 29 pound 29er to a 49 pound 29er, thought it might be sluggish and cumbersome on the descents. I was wrong, the new Rail is better on the descents and...
I just got the same bike. Switched over my 35mm stem and OneUp carbon bars from my other bike. Love the bike. it really rocks both climbing and descending. Fumbled the battery and dropped and put a big chip in it on the second ride, now looking for touchup paint. check your rear axel and...
I have a new 2021 9.7 Rail. It comes with the Bontrager XR5 29 x 2.6 tires. I have read several post about people recommending to replace the tires right off. Wondering why this and what would you replace them with? The tire seem to work really well, but then I was out in hero dirt this weekend.
Dropped my battery and chipped the paint on the battery cover. it is Visibility green 20321 Rail 9.7 and i was looking for some touchup paint. Any suggestions?
The Bike:
Manufacturer: TREK
Model: 9.7 Rail
Model Year: 2021
Price Paid: $7k

Score (out of 10): 9
Review: Just switched to the dark side. Came from a 2020 Trek Fuel EX 9.7 29 Lb. bike. I was worried the 49 Lb bike would be clunky and slugish on the down hills...
Going to put some OneUp carbon bars on it today. i have done some easy loops with a downhill section and i am really impressed. Looking forward to riding the Hoot trail this week end that some some serious flow and table top sections. Big upgrade Vs the 2020 Fuel EX 9.7 i have been riding.
