Get a front mudhugger

Try some PTFE tape.

I’m in Newcastle, perhaps they got the sponge bits ahead of your local shop, give your shop a bell.

It looks tight between the guard and tyre, I’ve had no issues. Added a couple of holes and removed the lip by filing it flush to the id. No shortening required.

They did, top notch service.

Got a call from Edinburgh Cycles to get the “sponge” installed and for a few other checks they want to ensure are completed, top notch dealer service.

Nothing in drain hole, potential to retain water. The sponge is just pushed in.

Large front mudhugger fitted to the rear, only a small mod of removing the lip and adding extra holes. The sponge is jammed into the recess of the the cross member of the rear link adjacent to the tyre. I will add a pic tomorrow.

Called into my local dealership, the Specialized rep had been in and discussed the known issue, however no sponge inserts forthcoming, cmon Specialized it’s not like sourcing unicorn horn is it?

Just fitted some sponge from a scour pad externally, and ran a smear of silicon grease along the case joint to seal the gap. Ensured drain hole was clear first.

Fitted and works fine, clearance does look tight but no problems so far.
